A Comparison Of Walt Whitman And Carl Sandburg, Henrietta Sadler Jan 1945

A Comparison Of Walt Whitman And Carl Sandburg, Henrietta Sadler

Master's Theses

Walt Whitman and Carl Sandburg - two men from different sections of the country, from different centuries - have captured the heart of life. They have sung bravely the songs which guide men to the best of life. They saw the good in the evil, and they were willing to accept the evil so that they might have its good. But they were not content to lot the evil remain - the evil of man's inhumanity to man must be abolished. The two poets have taken the powerful medium of poetry and with steady words and strong sentences they have …

Geography Of The Bible In Relation To Inspiration, Carl Eberhard

Concordia Theological Monthly

The connection between geography and the doctrine of inspiration, at least as far as this group is concerned, seems to be the sentence in the first paragraph of the Brief Statement of Missouri, which reads: "Since the Holy Scriptures are the Word of God, it goes without saying that they contain no errors or contradictions, but that they are in all their parts and words the infallible truth, also in those parts which treat of historical, geographical, and other secular matters, John 10: 35."

Kittel refers to the saying of Jesus in this passage as "dieses vielbehandelte und vielgequaelte Jesuswort" He is right. Just a little research reveals that many have written on this passage and that their interpretations do not agree. Nevertheless, though It may never be possible in this life to determine with absolute finality what the true meaning of this passage is, and though some readers of this article may not subscribe to this writer's findings, the undersigned ventures to submit his own investigation.

Antiochus Epiphanes., Brougher Petty Maddox Oct 1944

Antiochus Epiphanes., Brougher Petty Maddox

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

While the writer was an undergraduate he spent two Summers in the Panamint mountains above Death Valley, California. Hiking with one of the few old-timers remaining in that region he noticed that "the old desert rat" would stoop occasionally to pick up certain rocks which he would examine closely. Some went into a pouch he carried. They were later crushed and "panned." If they made a "showing" in the gold-pan, the prospector would retrace his steps and arduously search for the parent vein. In similar fashion the writer has ventured upon interesting features in the life and character of the …
