"But Right Or Wrong-My Architecture. ", George W. Hoyer Jun 1960

"But Right Or Wrong-My Architecture. ", George W. Hoyer

Concordia Theological Monthly

Who was it that referred to a recently completed building with the words "It looks as if it were designed by Frank Lloyd Wrong"' What is right in church architecture is always so much a reflection of a proponent's subjective background and experience that comments such as these are like "My country-may she always be right-but my country, right or wrong." A case made for church architecture is usually a case for my architecture.

The In-Service Training Of Sunday School Personnel, Walter J. Schott May 1960

The In-Service Training Of Sunday School Personnel, Walter J. Schott

Western Evangelical Seminary Theses

A thoughtful businessman remarked that he had discovered a new reason for believing that a church is a divine institution. "No other enterprise," he said, "could survive if managed so haphazardly." This statement is so true of the Sunday school. Generally speaking this school is an agency within the church, yet inseparable from t.he church whole. The Sunday school is more than a business enterprise. It is and basically should be a soul saving station, but it is also an educational institution. The affairs with which it must deal, should be of sufficient importance to be efficiently and effectively handled.

The Urban Church In A Transition Community, Vernon Roy Schreiber May 1949

The Urban Church In A Transition Community, Vernon Roy Schreiber

Bachelor of Divinity

The purpose of this paper is to examine the effect of an urban community which is in the process of changing status upon the life of' a church in that community. To proceed in this study it was first necessary to establish the presence of distinguishable communities in an urban setting and to determine the pattern of change which might be present in such communities. However, before the role of the church in such communities could be examined, the writer felt it necessary to present a brief and admittedly incomplete study of urban social forces upon the individual. This procedure …

Paul's Missionary Methods, Arthur Gerhardt Apr 1942

Paul's Missionary Methods, Arthur Gerhardt

Bachelor of Divinity

No attempt has been made to fathom the depths of the manifold problems concerning the facts of Paul’s biography. Questions of chronology and literary criticism ate avoided to give place to the purpose of our thesis. That Paul was called directly by God, that he was an inspired apostle, must not be overlooked. In this study, however, the historical facts pertaining to his mission endeavors will chiefly be stressed. The treatment is not intended to be more than suggestive.
