The Book Of Mormon As An Instrument In Teaching The Historicity Of The New Testament Events Of Christ's Life, David R. Mangelson
The Book Of Mormon As An Instrument In Teaching The Historicity Of The New Testament Events Of Christ's Life, David R. Mangelson
Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of this study is to determine and present the Book of Mormon's contributions as a witness to the authenticity of the New Testament account of certain events of Christ's life, in order that teachers may have an effective instrument in teaching the historicity of the New Testament account of Christ's life.
This study reveals 177 passages in the Book of Mormon that refer to the life of Jesus. These passages corroborated the New Testament account of Christ's life. There are 61 Book of Mormon passages that refer to the pre-existence of Jesus Christ and His anticipated coming. There …

The bewildered Christian, viewing the relatively recent and rapid progress of the American Negro, may ask: ''What more does the Negro want?" The black's reply to that question is likely to be, "What have you got?" Such a reply indicates the fact that a revolution becomes more demanding as the gap is narrowed. But the gap has been narrowed only in certain respects. The Negro has made gains in having but not in belonging. In fact, things seem worse in the latter area. In view of all this, the great mass of Christians is confused and inert.

Reginald Pole deserves careful attention by students of the Reformation period. Pole delivered one and shared in a second of three confessions which assumed Roman Catholic guilt for the splintering of Christendom. Adrian VI excoriated the Curia in his Instructio of Jan. 3, 1523, read to the Diet of Nuremberg by Francesco Chieregati.

The Covenant Comes Of Age: A Study Of Jeremiah 31:31-34, Thomas Decker
The Covenant Comes Of Age: A Study Of Jeremiah 31:31-34, Thomas Decker
Master of Divinity Thesis
This paper purposes to determine the historical and theological context into which Jeremiah introduced the concept of the new covenant found only in Jeremiah 31131-34. The Old Testament was acquainted with many covenants at various times; each held a place of importance with subsequent generations in understanding the relationship of Israel to the Kingdom of God. Integral to the thought of this paper is the question, “How was this once-mentioned new covenant of Jeremiah understood by God's people?" The scope of the problem spans the history of the Old Testament and the Christian Church. But this paper limits itself to …

The Interpretation Of Romans 16:17-20 In Ecclesiology, Richard Kraemer
Bachelor of Divinity
In order to set limits of the kind required it is necessary first to examine the text to the best of one's exegetical ability to determine its meaning--and that in the context of the epistle of St. Paul to the Romans. It is equally important to examine- the way in which this text has been subsequently used in the history of the Christian Church. This, indeed, will constitute the bulk of this paper; for the exegetical traditions of interpretation of this passage have a direct bearing on the way it is currently interpreted and will henceforth be interpreted. This is …

The question of the presence or absence of eschatological ideas in the prophetic writings has been debated for years, with scholars defending both positions. The question is problematic because of the difficulty of defining "eschatology" in a way that will do justice to the prophetic material. If understood strictly as a cosmic cataclysm, as a suprahistorical return to chaos followed by cosmogony, or even as the end of the present order and the beginning of a radically different order, eschatology cannot be said to have a central place in the utterances of the preexilic and exilic prophets.
The Day Of The Lord, Ralph W. Klein
The Day Of The Lord, Ralph W. Klein
Concordia Theological Monthly
What does it mean for Yahweh to have a day? Sigmund Mowinckel saw it as a day of manifestation or epiphany at the New Year's festival, including the celebration of Yahweh's kingship and His saving acts for His people. The eschatological day of Yahweh is only the final and supreme day of Yahweh's enthronement, entirely secondary to His cult day.
