Researchers working fairly independently of each other have created numerous measures of social and emotional competence (SEC). These measures tend to correlate (sometimes highly) with each other and with measures of stressful events, suggesting potential redundancy. We evaluated which, if any, SEC variables predicted unique variance in social and mental health after controlling for other SEC variables in the study and the impact of stressful events. Three-hundred and thirty-one university students participated in an anonymous, cross-sectional study. Identity awareness of research data has been introduced as a requirement for open research, transparency and reusability of research data in the context of eScience. This requirement includes the capability of linking research data to researchers, research projects and publications, and identifying the license for the data. This connectivity between research data and other elements in research ecosystems is required in order to make the data available and reusable beyond the initial research. While social media represents a broad range of benefits to organisations and institutions, such as enhanced brand engagement, it also presents challenges and risks to reputation and security, such as confidentiality breaches. Employee use of popular social media platforms, such as Facebook and Twitter, both at work and about work has resulted in organisations developing social media policies and guidelines as part of contemporary governance practice. In the early hours of the Sunday 19 September 2004, two men were seen running away from McCauley's Beach towards the coastal village of Thirroul, located south of Sydney in the northern suburbs of the Illawarra region of New South Wales (NSW), Australia. Moments later the nearby Sandon Point Aboriginal Tent Embassy (SPATE) burst into flames. The complete destruction of the embassy's structure and the life-threatening situation for the five people who were asleep inside marked a significant point in the long-running dispute over the future of the Sandon Point area. Social norms play a pivotal role in sustaining social order by regulating individual behaviors in a society. In normative multiagent systems, social norms have been used as an efficient mechanism to govern virtual agent societies towards cooperation and coordination. In this paper, we study the emergence of social norms via learning from repeated local interactions in networked agent societies. We propose a collective learning framework, which imitates the opinion aggregation process in human decision making, to study the impact of agent local collective behaviors on norm emergence in different situations. The influenza A (H5N1) virus is currently the focus of the worlds attention and, while avian flu viruses are not known to infect humans, there have been recent cases where the H5N1 has spread from human to human (Butler 2006; Ungchusak et al. 2005; Wulandari and Lyn 2006). SonomaWORKS was a ‘welfare to work’ program that was evaluated through grant funding from the US Department of Justice in the late 1990's. The outcomes from the research show some indication of success in moving long term welfare dependant families into full time and part time work. The core objective of this community services program was to improve the quality of life of the participants and encourage participation in the workforce. This policy approach along with other economic rationalisation incentives have been duplicated in other parts of the world in recent years. The evaluation findings on this program highlight the …
