Universities are knowledge-based organisations. They are using knowledge as a key resource and for competitive advantage. Knowledge management practices seems to be suitable for universities because they possess the conducive environment and systems. The quality of teaching, research and community service of lecturers coupled with their publication in any university system depend on the quality of the electronic database they use. This study therefore, investigated the knowledge of electronic databases as predictors of research productivity of academic staff in private universities in South-west, Nigeria.

The descriptive survey research design of the correlational type was adopted. A total of 1656 academic staff in in the 21 private universities were sampled.
