Minimum Wages In China: Evolution, Legislation, And Effects, Shi Li, Carl Lin May 2020

Minimum Wages In China: Evolution, Legislation, And Effects, Shi Li, Carl Lin

Faculty Books

This book considers the positive and negative impacts of the minimum wage policy in China. Since China enacted its first minimum wage law in 1994, the magnitude and frequency of changes in the minimum wage have been substantial, both over time and across jurisdictions. The results from China’s experience show that rapidly increasing minimum wages have helped increase average wages and reduce the gender wage gap, income inequality, and poverty. However, the fast-rising minimum wage has also resulted in the loss of employment for young adults, women, low-skilled workers, and migrant workers. Additionally, higher minimum wages have a negative impact …

Nonlinear Analysis Of Square Concrete-Filled Double Steel Tubular Slender Columns Incorporating Preload Effects, Mizan Ahmed, Qing Quan Liang, Vipulkumar I. Patel, Muhammad N. S Hadi Jan 2020

Nonlinear Analysis Of Square Concrete-Filled Double Steel Tubular Slender Columns Incorporating Preload Effects, Mizan Ahmed, Qing Quan Liang, Vipulkumar I. Patel, Muhammad N. S Hadi

Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part B

Thin-walled square and circular hollow steel tubes are designed to support the permanent and construction loads of several upper composite floors before filling the concrete into the tubes to form concrete-filled double steel tubular (CFDST) columns. The influences of preloads acting on the steel tubes on the structural responses of slender square CFDST columns have not been investigated either experimentally or numerically. This paper presents a fiber-based computational model for the determination of the interaction behavior of local and global buckling in axially and eccentrically loaded CFDST thin-walled square slender columns including preload effects. The computational modeling method accounts for …

Present article aims to investigate the effect of nano-clay content, foaming temperature and foaming time on the density and cell size of the PVC matrix foam. The cell size would affect the insulating and mechanical properties. The foaming temperature is set in three levels of 70, 80 and 90 °C, foaming time is set in three levels of 10, 20, and 30 s; and nano-clay is in content of 1, 3, and 5 wt%. Outputs consist the density and cell size, which affect impact the thermal conductivity, mechanical properties and the weight of the polymer foam. In addition the Least …
