Improved Workflow Modelling Using Role Activity Diagram-Based Modelling With Application To A Radiology Service Case Study, Nagesh Shukla, John Keast, Darek Ceglarek

Nagesh Shukla

The modelling of complex workflows is an important problem-solving technique within healthcare settings. However, currently most of the workflow models use a simplified flow chart of patient flow obtained using on-site observations, groupbased debates and brainstorming sessions, together with historic patient data. This paper presents a systematic and semi-automatic methodology for knowledge acquisition with detailed process representation using sequential interviews of people in the key roles involved in the service delivery process. The proposed methodology allows the modelling of roles, interactions, actions, and decisions involved in the service delivery process. This approach is based on protocol generation and analysis techniques …

On The Correlation Between The Effectiveness Of Metamorphic Relations And Dissimilarities Of Test Case Executions, Yuxiang Cao, Zhi Quan Zhou, Tsong Yueh Chen Jan 2014

On The Correlation Between The Effectiveness Of Metamorphic Relations And Dissimilarities Of Test Case Executions, Yuxiang Cao, Zhi Quan Zhou, Tsong Yueh Chen

Dr Zhiquan Zhou

Metamorphic testing (MT) is a property-based automated software testing method. It alleviates the oracle problem by testing programs against metamorphic relations (MRs), which are necessary properties among multiple executions of the target program. For a given problem, usually more than one MR can be identified. It is therefore of practical importance for testers to know the nature of good MRs, that is, which MRs are likely to have higher chances of revealing failures. To address this issue we investigate the correlation between the faultdetection effectiveness of MRs and the dissimilarity (distance) of test case execution profiles. Empirical study results reveal …

Dynamic Characteristics Of A Hybrid Microgrid With Inverter And Non- Inverter Interfaced Renewable Energy Sources: A Case Study, A V. Jayawardena, L G. Meegahapola, S Perera, D A. Robinson Dec 2013

Dynamic Characteristics Of A Hybrid Microgrid With Inverter And Non- Inverter Interfaced Renewable Energy Sources: A Case Study, A V. Jayawardena, L G. Meegahapola, S Perera, D A. Robinson

Dr Lasantha G Meegahapola

Microgrids are becoming important constituents of electric power distribution networks. Microgrids are typically comprised of both inverter interfaced (e.g. double-fed induction generator (DFIG), solar-photovoltaic (PV) system) and non-inverter interfaced (e.g. synchronous generator) renewable energy generators (REGs), hence their dynamic characteristics are significantly different from the conventional grids comprised of centralised synchronous generators. Different inherent characteristics of REGs, power dispatch levels, relative REG capacities, and external grid characteristics are some of the important features of significant interest in relation to microgrid dynamic behaviour. For this study a microgrid model was developed in DIgSILENT Power Factory based on the IEEE-13 bus system …

The Local Index Formula In Semifinite Von Neumann Algebras Ii: The Even Case, Alan Carey, John Phillips, Adam Rennie, F Sukochev Oct 2013

The Local Index Formula In Semifinite Von Neumann Algebras Ii: The Even Case, Alan Carey, John Phillips, Adam Rennie, F Sukochev

Associate Professor Adam Rennie

We generalise the even local index formula of Connes and Moscovici to the case of spectral triples for a ∗-subalgebra A of a general semifinite von Neumann algebra. The proof is a variant of that for the odd case which appears in Part I. To allow for algebras with a non-trivial centre we have to establish a theory of unbounded Fredholm operators in a general semifinite von Neumann algebra and in particular prove a generalised McKean-Singer formula.

An Investigation On The Impacts Of Density Currents On The Sedimentation In Dam Reservoirs Using Tcm Model; Case Study: Maroon Dam, Farhad Raof, Mohammad Naghshine, Ali Khoshrftar Sep 2013

An Investigation On The Impacts Of Density Currents On The Sedimentation In Dam Reservoirs Using Tcm Model; Case Study: Maroon Dam, Farhad Raof, Mohammad Naghshine, Ali Khoshrftar

Farhad Fakheri Raof

Sedimentation in dams' reservoirs is one of the most pressing concerns facing dams today. Maroon reservoir dam, located in Khuzestan Province, is one of the most important dams in this region. Since it is a new constructed dam, numerical simulation of sedimentation trend in its reservoirs could significantly help on a better utilization. To this end, TCM model which is capable to simulate density currents was used. The obtained results show that the dam loses about 91 million m3 of its reservoirs during a 50-year exploitation period.

Statistical Indicators For Local Government Areas: A Case Study Of The Shoalhaven Lga, 1997, Nell Stetner-Houweling, David Steel, Greg Pullen Jun 2013

Statistical Indicators For Local Government Areas: A Case Study Of The Shoalhaven Lga, 1997, Nell Stetner-Houweling, David Steel, Greg Pullen

Professor David Steel

Decision makers and planers need to have relevant and reliable information to give a picture of how different areas are developing economically and socially. However, there is a perceived lack of timely and easily accessible data at the Local Government Area (LGA) level. This study produced a statistical profile of the Shoalhaven (LGA) by developing a conceptual framework, which represents the key economic, social, and population characteristics of the LGA. The statistical data available from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) at the level of the LGA, was investigated and summarised. Other sources of information available to create a statistical …
