Sport At The Service Of Human Development: Distinctly Jesuit Athletics, Matthew L. Davidson Ph.D., Robert W. Davis Jr., Ed.D.

Jesuit Higher Education: A Journal

This article describes the underlying theory and practice of a Distinctly Jesuit Approach to Athletics, which was represented at the 2016 Vatican Conference, Sport at the Service of Humanity. The approach has been developed and implemented in a collaboration between the Institute for Excellence & Ethics (IEE) and the athletics departments at Le Moyne College and The University of Scranton. The article recounts the context that was the foundation for the work, the process for developing this distinct type of Athletics Department, and the early results of the ongoing work.
