This study focuses on the use of the native language (L1) by second language (L2) learners when carrying out a collaborative jigsaw task in a computer chat environment. It investigates the extent and function of L1 use by means of a sociocultural theoretical framework. The research project was carried out in three languages: Chinese, German, and Spanish. Students were assigned to dyads at random and were asked to perform a jigsaw task activity. The chat logs were collected and analyzed via descriptive statistics and discourse analysis. The purpose of this study was to analyze 149 Utah L.D.S. husband/father's time spent in various activities by their level of religious activity, and to relate their organization participation time to their household work time. Data for this study came from the Utah portion of the "Interstate Comparison of Urban/Rural Families' Time Use." This study used a sub-sample of the original Utah sample. Data used were collected through church affiliation and activity questionnaires and time diaries.

Films of three depress ed persons, one manic, and one normal individual were analyzed frame-by-frame to determine body activity rates. Speech rates were also determined. It was found that the manic had the highest activity rate, followed by the normal comparison, and with the depressed patients having the lowest activity rates. The depressed subjects also had lower speech rates than did the normal or the manic subjects. The term 'psychomotor retardation 1 is called into question, as the frequency distributions of movement durations were similar for all subjects. Implications for treatment and for development are also discussed.

The problem under investigation was to determine the leisure time activities and interests of Utah State University students. A questionnaire was circulated to a stratified-random sample group of 654 students from the nine colleges chosen by sex and class rank, spring quarter 1968. The students answered questions concerning their participation in recreation activities on campus, off campus, and as a spectator; no interest to participate in certain recreation activities; and desire to participate in recreation activities but did not for various reasons.
