The University of New Orleans Department of Planning and Urban Studies (UNO--‐PLUS), on behalf of their client, the Crescent City Community Land Trust, Inc. (CCCLT), has created this report to determine the viability of bringing expiring LIHTC properties into a community land trust (CLT). While CLTs are a proven model for maintaining the long-term affordability of housing units, their role in preserving expiring LIHTC properties is untested. In this report we: 1) examine the potential role of CLTs in preserving LIHTC properties; 2) evaluate the 20 expiring LIHTC projects within Orleans Parish to identify those best suited for conversion to …

Where Y'At?: An Evaluation Of Commercial Corridor Revitalization Programs In New Orleans, Alena Anderson, Michelle M. Thompson

This report highlights several Commercial Corridor Revitalization Programs (CCRPs) in New Orleans, LA. Designated Main Streets programs and other Business and Property Owners Associations (BPOAs) have been included to illustrate the diversity of approaches to increasing local economic development along vital commercial corridors of the city. An examination of the national Main Street Program and how this is adopted by local organizations is described. Commercial Corridor Revitalization Programs (CCRPs) are used as vehicles to encourage and inspire urban economic development. Based upon interviews with program managers and community residents, the impact of Commercial Corridor Revitalization Programs(CCRPs) is summarized. Since the …

Active Transportation Measurement And Benchmarking Development: New Orleans State Of Active Transportation Report 2010, Billy Fields

Over the last decade, there has been a surge in bicycle and pedestrian use in communities that have invested in active transportation infrastruc-ture and programming. While these increases show potentially promising trends, many of the cities that have shown the highest growth are geo-graphically concentrated in the northern tier of the country. Communities in the South have tended to lag behind the northern and western cities in terms of active transportation use.
