Keynote Address: Cognitive, Emotional, And Hard-Core Behaviourism As Theoretical Paradigms For Consumer Behaviour, John R. Rossiter

Faculty of Commerce - Papers (Archive)

When Paula asked me to be the keynote speaker at this conference, I naturally wanted to pick a big, important topic that was relevant to consumer researchers, you, the audience. I am working on three big topics at the moment, between editions of the Rossiter and Percy textbook. One topic is marketing knowledgewhat it is and how we can test it. I have a large ARC grant for that one. A second topic is a new procedure for the measurement of marketing constructs-a replacement for the narrow Churchill procedure that everyone seems to follow. Some of you have seen working …

Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part A

We examine the properties of the X-ray gas in the central regions of the distant (z=0.46), X-ray luminous cluster of galaxies surrounding the powerful radio source 3C 295, using observations made with the Chandra Observatory. Between radii of 50 and 500 kpc, the cluster gas is approximately isothermal with an emission-weighted temperature, kT∼5 keV. Within the central 50-kpc radius this value drops to kT∼3.7 keV. The spectral and imaging Chandra data indicate the presence of a cooling flow within the central 50-kpc radius of the cluster, with a mass deposition rate of approximately 280 M⊙ …

A Computational Analysis Of The Core Of A Trading Economy With Three Competitive Equilibria And A Finite Number Of Traders, Alok Kumar, Martin Shubik Jan 2001

A Computational Analysis Of The Core Of A Trading Economy With Three Competitive Equilibria And A Finite Number Of Traders, Alok Kumar, Martin Shubik

Cowles Foundation Discussion Papers

In this paper we examine the structure of the core of a trading economy with three competitive equilibria as the number of traders ( N ) is varied. We also examine the sensitivity of the multiplicity of equilibria and of the core to variations in individual initial endowments. Computational results show that the core first splits into two pieces at N = 5 and then splits a second time into three pieces at N = 12. Both of these splits occur not at a point but as a contiguous gap. As N is increased further, the core shrinks by N …

The Uses Of Teaching Games In Game Theory Classes And Some Experimental Games, Martin Shubik Jan 2001

The Uses Of Teaching Games In Game Theory Classes And Some Experimental Games, Martin Shubik

Cowles Foundation Discussion Papers

The results are presented from several experiments. They include the selection of points in the core, interpersonal comparisons of utility, and the reconsideration of Stone results on prominence in contrast with symmetry.
