For some years the writer has noticed that studies of wage rates available for general use pertain to wage conditions by industry on a national or regional basis. Literature on the subject bears upon methods employed in studies on a wide scale, or on studies of large cities or important concentrated industrial centers. There appears to be a dearth of literature on the subject of conducting wage surveys on a community basis in the smaller cities and less populated areas.
