This study proposes to do the following things: (1) to find out the type of libraries that Negro high schools of Missouri have; (2) to discover something about their organization and administration; (3) to ascertain what equipment and furniture they have; (4) to learn the library policy and uses made of libraries; (5) to find out what services libraries offer students; (6) to procure information about their distribution of volumes; (7) to ascertain the number and kind of periodicals received; (8) to suggest that Negro high schools without libraries provide the best possible type that the school can afford.

The purpose of this study is to show how a public assistance program has developed to meet the needs of a rapidly urbanizing society, and how, in Louisiana, this program has evolved from an incidental, casual, and uncertain activity of local governing units to an integrated, well-organized governmental function.

Legislative provisions for aid to dependent individuals form the base of the study; statistical information concerning the extent of assistance and explanation of the administrative organization of the various public assistance agencies bring out the sociological implications of a public assistance program.

The Chihuahua (Casa Grandes) culture area, the most southern area of specialization definitely associable with the Anasazi culture, has its center in the northwestern part of the Mexican state of Chihuahua. This thesis will examine the personality and policy of Albert J. Beveridge, of Indiana, in his role as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Territories from 1901 to 1911. Particular emphasis is placed upon his attitude toward the admission into the Union of three territories, New Mexico, Arizona, and Oklahoma. This, therefore, is an effort to disclose the motives, methods, and theories which determined and characterized Beveridge's statehood policy.

This study of juvenile delinquency contains 184 cases and covers a period of 57 years, from 1881 to 1938 . The case history of each delinquent was secured from the State Industrial School for Boys at Topeka, Kansas, The State Industrial School for Girls at Beloit, Kansas, and the State Industrial Reformatory at Hutchinson, Kansas. The institutional records also contained the parole reports. The boys were located, their present occupation determined, and their school and church records determined where possible. The agricultural interests of the United States and Utah have experienced some trying situations during the past quarter century. Periods of depression followed by periods of expansion and prosperity have resulted in a condition of instability and insecurity in agriculture.

The effect of alternate periods of prosperity and depression in agriculture becomes increasingly important as agriculture changes from self-sufficing to commercialized types of business enterprises. During the Lewis and Clark expedition in 1804, the liquor problem first entered Kansas, when two men were punished for drunkenness while on duty. From 1804 to 1848 little is to be found in records that gives any information on this question but from 1848 to 1861 it was a live issue. Laws were enacted prohibiting the sale of intoxicating beverages to the Indians, the Dram-shop Law of 1855 was passed, the Wyandotte Constitutional Convention was held, and Kansas was admitted as a state January 29, 1861, without a liquor control law in her Constitution.
