The objective of this study was to quantify the winter severity in a way that was reproduceable and easy to understand. The Accumulated Winter Severity Seasonal Index (AWSSI) was chosen for this reason and was used to quantify winter severity by season across the state of Arkansas. The variables that go into the AWSSI calculation are maximum daily temperature, minimum daily temperature, daily snowfall, and daily snow depth. When the snowfall and snow depth were missing, they can be estimated using daily temperature and precipitation. School attendance/problems are a key focus of educational policy. Critical approaches to educational policy stress the importance of nontraditional methods that are inclusive of the needs of students from marginalized or minoritized groups. Students in these groups are already at an increased risk for school attendance problems due to complex systems interactions, and bolstering protective factors at the school level may be one way to promote inclusivity and equity. MTSS models are well suited to address attendance, and bolstering protective factors on a large-scale would fall under Tier 1 preventative efforts. Crises of climate breakdown, ocean acidification, mass extinction, pollution and other forms of environmental degradation demand global transformation. Direct and clinical social workers are on the front lines of responses to the social consequences of these crises. They have critical skills needed for socially and environmentally sustainable solutions to these problems. First, the present study entails a theoretically guided examination of relationships between nonparent-friendly organizational climate (NPFC) and important outcomes among nonparent workers. Second, the present study explores the role of social-identity theory in understanding nonparent work experiences by examining and comparing the function (i.e., moderation effect sizes) of parental role values and parental expectations (i.e., childfree status) on relationships between NPFC and outcomes including affective commitment. This study focuses on a community’s interest and knowledge on air quality mitigation measures in regard to smoke exposure from wildfires. A combination of semi-structured in person interviews and online surveys were available for those individuals that lived or worked in Ramona, California. The residents in Ramona had varying knowledge, concern levels and responses when discussing air quality mitigation measures with regards to wildfire smoke effects and impacts. Wildfire smoke itself was not a major concern of most residents within the area and many had described wildfire smoke mitigation measures as being conditional measures not applicable to the entire community …
