A Handy Guide To Qualitative Research In Education, Abd Aziz Ardiansyah
The Qualitative Report
Marilyn Lichman's Qualitative Research in Education: A User’s Guide is a well-written and valuable textbook for new and experienced researchers. Regarding title and content, this textbook focuses more on educational research. Still, it does not rule out the possibility that this book can be used in qualitative research outside education. An exciting thing was the division of phases into three stages: (1) Tradition, theory, and practice; (2) Research planning; and (3) Collect, organize, and communicate. This perfect division allows researchers who have read this book to conduct qualitative research. Readers will also find that the examples used throughout the text …

Review Of Residencies Revisited: Reflections On Library Residency Programs From The Past And Present, Keahi Adolpho
Review Of Residencies Revisited: Reflections On Library Residency Programs From The Past And Present, Keahi Adolpho
Journal of Contemporary Archival Studies
In Residencies Revisited, editors Preethi Gorecki and Arielle Petrovich compile essays and narratives from current and former diversity resident librarians, residency scholars, and other residency stakeholders to discuss challenges, opportunities, success, and the future of residency programs. The opportunities that diversity residency programs provide for recent graduates have been discussed for decades. This collection, which centers the experiences of diversity residents, will help academic librarians and administrators better understand the harm of these programs, if they are not carefully planned, well-structured, supported, and resident-centered. Residencies Revisited is long-awaited and essential reading for those involved in planning, implementing, and proposing …

This book review examines Museum Archives: Practice, Issues, Advocacy edited by Rachel Chatalbash, Susan Hernandez, and Megan Schwenke and published by the Society of American Archivists (SAA) in 2022. Book Review: Documentary Research In The Social Sciences By Malcolm Tight, Patrick W. Leeport
Essays in Education
Documentary research methods are a critical, yet often overlooked approach to research in the social sciences. Malcolm Tight’s book, Documentary Research in the Social Sciences not only makes the case for the value of documentary research, but serves as a pragmatic introduction to a wide array of different genres within documentary research. The book is suited well to graduate students as well as researchers and practitioners looking to expand their understanding of, and ability to conduct, document-based research.

Book Review: Greta Lynn Uehling. Everyday War: The Conflict Over Donbas, Ukraine. Cornell University Press (2023), Patrick Clairzier
The Journal of International Relations, Peace Studies, and Development
Greta Lynn Uehling’s book offers a fresh perspective on the ongoing conflict between pro-Russian separatists and Ukrainian government backed forces over the provinces of Donetsk and Luhansk. Begun in March 2014, the conflict was partly due to the events following the Maiden Movement or Revolution of Dignity, which ousted pro-Russian president Viktor Yanukovych. Given the escalation of the conflict with Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Uehling’s multiyear study of the war in the Donbas region represents a valuable addition to the broader discourse on the ongoing Ukraine-Russian war.

The Qualitative Report
We reviewed Taylor, Bogdan, and DeVault’s book entitled, Introduction to Qualitative Research Methods: A Guidebook and Resource (4th ed., 2016), and found to be an all-inclusive guide, user-friendly, and resourceful for qualitative researchers. Its inclusion of selected studies as examples to align them with the narratives of the main body of the study makes its value greater.

South Carolina Libraries
In this article, The South Carolina Libraries Editorial Board discusses the history and rebuilding of the South Carolina Libraries journal, the official publication of the South Carolina Library Association (SCLA). As the journal adjusted in response to community needs, changes in the Editorial Board, the publication cycle, and peer review process were made to expand and enhance the functionality, appearance, and content of the journal. The Editorial Board reviews strategies for library community members – including practitioners, research faculty, and LIS students – to become involved as a part of the publication through authoring, book reviewing, peer reviewing, or artwork …
