The collection consists of Dr. Bryant’s professional and organizational files, biographical data, correspondence, and speeches. Most of the material relates to her publishing efforts, her work as a faculty member at Brooklyn College, and her involvement with professional organizations, especially the New York branch of the American Association of University Women. Most of the material extends form 1950-1975. A list of the more prominent individuals who corresponded with Margaret Bryant has been included as an appendix to the inventory. The Kathryn Summers Powell Papers consist of Dr. Powell’s professional and organizational files and includes correspondence, drafts and revisions of her speeches and dissertation, biographical data, and teaching notes with reference material. The collection pertains to Dr. Powell’s work as a Winthrop faculty member, scholar and specialist in family and child development and her involvement with such organizations as the Christian Children’s Fund and the Southeastern Council on Family Relations. The material extends from Dr. Powell’s days as a student and young wife in Florida (1940-1959), with most of the substantive material extending from 1960 to 1976.

The Alvin Laroy Duckett Papers consist of correspondence, lecture notes, reading lists, tests and newspaper clippings relating to Dr. Duckett’s position as a professor of history at Winthrop College (1950-1967). Also included is a thesis (1956) and a rough draft, final draft, and book reviews pertaining to his book John Forsyth: Political Tactician (1962). Although the papers range from 1941 to about 1966, the greater part of the collection concerns the years of his employment at Winthrop.
