First established in the United States in the 1990’s, the information commons (IC) has become a common way to provide users of academic libraries with a variety of both library and technology services in the 21st century. This poster presents selected results of a survey of digitization and digital collection creation practices conducted by the Digital Collections Users’ Group (DCUG), a committee sponsored by the Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois (CARLI). The survey was conducted to increase DCUG’s understanding of the efforts of CARLI member libraries (including reasons why libraries might not be pursuing digital collections), and to help DCUG create documentation and training materials to better serve the needs of libraries creating digital collections.
