The Game User Experience Satisfaction Scale (GUESS) is a 55-item tool assessing nine constructs describing video game satisfaction. While the development of the GUESS followed best practices and resulted in a versatile, comprehensive tool for assessing video game user experience, responding to 55 items can be cumbersome in situations where repeated assessments are necessary. The aim of this research was to develop a shorter version of the scale for use in iterative game design, testing, and research. The survey of 1,957 students enrolled at Metropolitan Technical Community College done in the spring, 1980 provided a variety of information. The data on their characteristics were similar to earlier profiles of Metro Tech students. Most Metro students continued to be part time rather than full time and enrolled in a degree or certificate program rather than taking selected courses. Students were almost equally split between day and night courses. Only one-fifth were under 21 years of age. One-third earned under $9,000, but one-fourth earned over $20,000. The sample of public and private employers in the four county area was selected by classifying all employers into categories or strata based on the number of employees. These were sampled at varying rates with greater emphasis given larger employers. All employers selected were sent a questionnaire, and follow-up phone calls were made to all non-respondents.

One purpose of this study was to assess how well Metropolitan Technical Community College is performing its mission of meeting the public's need for vocational education. This was measured, in part, by conducting a survey of the general public in each of the four counties the College serves, as well as the immediate neighborhood around each of its current or proposed campuses.

The evaluation and needs assessment study of Metropolitan Technical Community College included a survey of the professional staff at the College. A questionnaire was developed and delivered to the College administration for distribution to the faculty, administrators, and other professional staff. The administration was responsible for the distribution and collection of the survey instruments. Responses were received from 78 faculty, 44 administrators, and 14 other professional staff. This represents response rates of 75% for faculty and administrators and 93% for other professional staff. The study is intended to provide information to Metropolitan Technical Community College for consideration in the possible establishment of a new course of study in machine technologies.
