The report examines the processes, methods and Practices of the Cypriot educational system as the

embodiment of tolerance in discourses and practices addressing cultural diversity in schools. These are

mediated by the perceptions of policy makers, the convictions of stakeholders involved in the processes and abilities of and tools made available to educationalists. [1]. Recording racist crime is a rather new area for Cyprus, which started in 2005 with the police creating a rather basic mechanism for recording racial incidents. The relevant police unit is however understaffed and overloaded with other mandates, to the effect that little recording is done of racist crime and even less processing of the data collected. There is no tradition in Cyprus in collecting data on other hate crimes and no information as to its extent; also special hate crimes such as anti-Semitism or islamophobia are engrossed within racially motivated crime and are not afforded separate treatment.

This is a staudy on racism in sport in Cyprus, part of the the RAXEN Network.

There is no comprehensive study, nor is there any systematic system of recording racist incidents and discriminatory practices in sport in Cyprus. To collect the necessary evidence for the purposes of this report the NFP relied on various secondary sources (books, media reports). Additionally, the report draws on interviews as well as extensive information gathering from the persons interviewed (see interview list). It examines the historical context and evolution of citizenship in Cyprus and then it analyses the legal aspects of the modes of acquisition and loss of citizenship. Finally it looks at the current debates and the challenges of gender equality, migration, Europeanisation and reunification.
