The Effect Of In Vivo Coaching On Therapist Behavior Management Skills, Leslie E. Brittain

Masters Theses, 2010-2019

Autism Spectrum Disorders impacts one in every 68 children, costing the United States between $11.5 billion to $60.9 billion per year. Among the multiple impairments that Autism causes, behavioral deficits are at the forefront of the disability and require intensive interventions such as applied behavior analysis (ABA) in order to manage. Management Of Problem Behavior Maintained By Negative Reinforcement, Anna Leigh Cruise

Masters Theses, 2010-2019

Literature on escape-maintained behaviors suggest a variety of treatments for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in the clinical and home settings. Effective interventions include, but are not limited to, functional communication training, differential reinforcement of other or alternate behaviors, noncontingent escape or reinforcement, and positive reinforcement. All utilizing behavior analytic principles, the interventions work to decrease the problem behavior being maintained by negative reinforcement. The current study examined varying schedules of noncontingent delivery of positive reinforcers in the participants’ classroom to increase on-task behavior during academic demands, while decreasing disruptive escape behaviors. The conditions were introduced with one participant …

Merge Of Behavior Analysis Procedures Into A Speech-Language Pathology Autism Clinic, Elizabeth Simons May 2014

Merge Of Behavior Analysis Procedures Into A Speech-Language Pathology Autism Clinic, Elizabeth Simons

Masters Theses, 2010-2019

This study developed applied behavior analysis skills in a different discipline through training and coaching speech-language pathology graduate students providing therapy services in a program for children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. Two graduate students in applied behavior analysis trained 9 graduate students in speechlanguage pathology in 3 concepts: function of behavior, positive reinforcement and differential reinforcement. These trainings occurred within the framework of a systematic multiple baseline design. After training, each participant received bug-in-theear coaching on the use of positive reinforcement daily for 5 days during therapy delivery. At the end of each day therapists developed a list of …
