The DePaul University Richardson Library conducted a study of an interactive, touch-based wayfinding screen in order to determine 1) what specific content needs users desire in digital wayfinding services and 2) are user content needs so broad, a more full-feature experience with access to all library web content would be preferred. The three-phase study included analysis of click analytics data, observations of user interactions and questionnaires targeting user experiences and expectations. The study builds on research at other libraries around point-of-need wayfinding signage and usability of digital information. DePaul University Library will share its lessons learned and recommendations for hosted CONTENTdm 6 administrators wishing to customize CONTENTdm in a way that strikes the right balance between default CONTENTdm sites and sites that stand out and better serve our unique audiences. The DePaul University Library has learned many lessons from customizing its hosted instance of CONTENTdm 6, including the use of jQuery to add interface enhancements and remove some native CONTENTdm features. Student Scholarship: A Promising Engagement Strategy For Growing An Institutional Repository, M Ryan Hess

DePaul University has recently changed its strategy for growing its institutional repository, promoting opportunities for publishing student scholarship. Unlike with faculty works, student scholarship does not evoke strong opinions about copyright and future publishing risks. Instead, it is seen both as a promotional tool for a department or faculty member and as a win for students. Our successes have included student translations of historical French documents held in our library, a student Law journal, a student Nursing journal, student GIS maps and oral histories of artists. Providing technical know-how to non-technical researchers to promote and preserve their collections online is an emerging niche librarians are filling. Digital humanities partners are sometimes external to the library’s institution. DePaul University Library assisted researchers at the National University of Ireland, Galway in preserving their catalogue of Vincentian documents by migrating metadata from an unstable server to Omeka.net, a hosted web publishing platform designed for cultural institutions. The library proposed Omeka.net after considering the collection’s requirements, the technical abilities of the researchers and their budget. DePaul University's Library Web Services team investigated the potential of Springshare CampusGuides for serving as a web content management system. The team overrode system CSS, added JQuery libraries and features, integrated an external SQL database into the site and leveraged the workflows and functionalities of Campus Guides to make it a more powerful WCMS.

This ticketing application was developed by the DePaul University Libraries Web Services Team for project management. It uses the Zoho Creator application building platform and is available for use for free on the Zoho Marketplace. The application manages projects, keeps stakeholders up to date on project statuses and generates reports.
