What Do Agricultural And Biological Science Students Use? A Bibliometric Analysis Of Undergraduate Research Projects, Jerome Idiegbeyan-Ose, Ayooluwa Aregbesola, Sols Owolabi, Toluwani Eyiolorunshe, Ayotunde Owolabi

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)

The study investigate the citation pattern of undergraduate projects in a private university, Nigeria. Bibliometric method was adopted for the study to analyze the information sources cited in the research projects. The coverage of the study was from 2015 to 2018 set of graduates. Findings revealed that Animal Science programme accounted for the highest citations, while Agricultural Economics had the lowest citations. It was also discovered that an average of 49 citations per project were recorded. Journal articles and books were the most cited materials. The paper concluded and made recommendations.

The paper reviewed the integral role of public libraries in promoting youth participation in agriculture, information serving as a key driver. The population of youths in Nigeria estimated to be about 70 million establishes the need for this study, noting their relevance to economic growth and development of the agricultural sector. The economic challenges in Nigeria make it to suffer from food insecurity which is due to low agricultural production and productivity. Specific initiatives by the Federal Government on pro-poor rural agricultural food growth to achieve SDGs to end hunger have been established. This paper deals with the analysis of research output of ICAR- Indian Institute of Horticulture, Bangalore (ICAR-IIHR) during 1989 to 2018 appeared in web of science database. It attempts to analyze the growth and development of research activity of ICAR-IIHR as reflected in publications output in web of science database. Data for a study is total of 1095 have been downloaded and analyzed according to objectives.
