Age-Friendly Communities (AFC) initiatives convene stakeholders across sectors and service areas throughout a community to work together to improve the social and built environments for older persons living in the community. While the AFC movement has been active internationally for thirteen years, little is known about the mechanisms that drive this work and its successes. This study aims to uncover some of the key collective action processes and structures that comprise AFC work in a rural county in New York State, through a collaboration theory framework and a social network analysis design.

Collaboration is often cited as an important component of effective clinical supervision. Despite its frequent mention, the collaboration construct has often been poorly defined or confounded with other constructs. The present study sought to replicate and extend the work of Rousmaniere and Ellis (2013) on collaborative clinical supervision (CS) by evaluating the psychometric properties of a measure of collaborative supervision, the Collaborative Supervisor Behavior Scale (CSBS), and assessing its relation with the supervisory working alliance. This study looked at the knowledge creation by distributed groups in a knowledge based organization as they engaged in collaborative writing. A traditional model of knowledge creation assumes knowledge is located by the individual in the forms of content, competency, and expertise. A new model of knowledge creation identifies three ways to identify knowledge (tangible representation of knowledge, procedural and tacit knowledge, partaged knowledge) which can be found internally or externally to the individual, group, or organization. This research study presents results from an evaluation and cost effectiveness analysis of a regionalization of selected police services into a Law Enforcement Council approach, as practiced by the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council (Metro-LEC). The Metro-LEC is a non-profit organization comprising forty three law enforcement agencies in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The results from wave two surveys administered to officers in the organization as well as a survey distributed to the Chief Executive Officers of the participating law enforcement agencies illustrate the overall effectiveness of the organization. Collaboration has increasingly emerged in recent years as a new paradigm in public management. This collaborative trend, however, has contradicted the longstanding American political tradition of conflictual contestation of competing interests and adversarial legalism. Consequently, it has presented public managers with the challenge of dealing in reality with the "tensions between alternative forms of management practice" (Huxham and Vangen 2005, 245). In most accounts, watershed management has recently become a particularly active arena for that clash of opposing collaborative and conflictual managerial practices.
