Academic libraries play multifaceted roles in connection to student success. Successful partnerships between student success-focused units and libraries are essential to building a supportive environment for students. The presenters will share the initial findings examining student success initiatives within university and college libraries in North America. Specifically, the researchers will discuss the findings from focus groups conducted with Student Success Librarians and the ways they engage with campus partners to implement student success initiatives.

Academic libraries are increasingly aligning their goals and resources to support student success on their campuses. This work can combine responsibilities like information literacy instruction, library outreach, and campus collaboration. This presentation will delve into the findings of a national survey and focus groups about student success efforts in academic libraries to provide insight into strategies for campus collaboration. Participants will identify potential partnership opportunities to increase collaboration, examine roadblocks to success, and develop takeaways for expanding their approach to working with campus partners.

During the demolition of an Illinois State University dormitory in the spring of 2016, workers discovered two time capsules. Tasked with their care, the university archivist looked for archival guidance on the safe handling of time capsules, best practices for working with their contents while balancing public demand for access. This case study examines the time capsule as an object of collective memory, how it fits into an institutional collection, the archivist’s work to document and recover materials in two recently discovered time capsules, and how to work with multiple institutional departments to make them accessible. As scholars in training and future faculty, graduate students are a vital community within any higher education institution and a population that should be embraced by academic libraries. While some libraries have highly structured and formalized programming, others have an ad hoc approach relying on subject librarians to address individual student questions at the point of need. America's Music was a collaborative public program presenting the history of American popular music through a series of documentary films screenings, scholar-led discussions, musical performances, exhibits, and workshops. Illinois State University's library worked with many stakeholders to produce the series, which was well-received by the community.
