Each Fall Semester, before classes begin, the library holds an orientation and training for all library faculty, staff, and student workers. This is typically a time when the captive audience (attendance is mandatory) is treated to a day of lectures and presentations on such riveting topics as library policies and procedures, customer service standards, and emergency preparedness, followed by tours of the different working areas of the library. No one is spared; even long-time, returning employees must attend to be reminded of things they should very well know and to show solidarity and support for the new employees. It is …
