The study seeks to understand the role and significance of the 'self within the context of the current development discourse. In order to establish a relationship between the 'self' and development discourse the awareness and understanding of the 'self' by the individual must first occur. Acquiring a sense of 'self is particularly important for the individual who works as a development practioner who seeks to help others via development practice.
