Is Ownership Of Or Proximity To Residential Solar Installations Associated With Environmental Opinions And Civic Engagement?, Jace Colby
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
Since 2019, solar energy has represented the largest portion of new electricity generating capacity in the United States. Previous research on who is likely to have installed solar panels on their homes has found some traits, such as political ideology and income, are associated with solar installations but conclusions are inconsistent. This research takes a novel approach by examining how the presence of solar panels, both at the individual and neighborhood level can correlate with an individual’s civic engagement and other characteristics - such as opinions about climate change and energy policies. I analyze multiple waves, or iterations, of large …
Site-Based And Nonsite Archaeological Survey: A Comparison Of Two Survey Methods In The City Of Rocks, Idaho, Patrick Reed Mcdonald
Site-Based And Nonsite Archaeological Survey: A Comparison Of Two Survey Methods In The City Of Rocks, Idaho, Patrick Reed Mcdonald
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
Archaeology in the western United States frequently employs pedestrian survey of the ground surface to locate and identify archaeological sites. Proponents of alternative survey techniques suggest that site-based survey may be inherently flawed and will not accurately detect, document, or account for artifacts located outside of site boundaries. Site-based survey identifies artifacts, and then searches the area more intensively in an attempt to identify a spatial break in artifact presence. Nonsite approaches utilize point plotting of all discovered artifacts in order to quantitatively identify relationships between artifacts. Quantitative analysis removes a level of researcher bias from the interpretation of past …

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder Knowledge And Practices: A Survey Of Pediatricians And Family Practice Physicians, Kara L. Spielmans
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a common childhood disorder often treated by pediatricians or family practice physicians. ADHD knowledge held by treating physicians may be an important predictor in patient outcomes. This study examined ADHD knowledge and common assessment and treatment practices of pediatricians and family practice physicians via a national survey sent to members of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Family Physicians. Mailings included the Knowledge of Attention Deficit Disorders Scale--Revised (KADDS-R) and a demographic/practice questionnaire. Although both physician types reported utilizing assessment and treatment methods consistent with current ADHD practice guidelines, findings suggested that …

A Survey Of Awareness Programs Regarding Infant Hearing Loss, Ronald Rao Bateman
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
Hearing conservation specialists are aware of the need for early identification and diagnosis of impaired hearing. This awareness of need has led to the development of several identification methods in the United States. Public awareness programs designed to inform laymen and professionals of the danger signals of infant hearing impairment currently are coming into focus, both as a separate entity and as part of total identification procedures.
Current public awareness programs regarding infant hearing loss were surveyed in the present study and recommendations on a model awareness program of this type were obtained. Fifty-one hearing conservation specialists participated in the …

All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
Chinese agriculture differs from the Western agriculture in the development and utilization of agricultural science on the fields. China has always been an agricultural country, but she failed to improve in techniques of cultivation as the time passed by. The land, prior to the Communist take-over, was owned and cultivated by individuals and the produce was sold in a free-market. Unfortunately, the Chinese government, prior to 1949, failed to bring about adequate agricultural reforms and implement economic development measures.
As a result an overwhelming proportion of the population of China is occupied on the land, the supply of which is …
