Call Auction Transparency And Market Liquidity, Evidence From The Shanghai Stock Exchange, Gary G. Tian, Dionigi Gerace, Alex Frino

This paper examines the impact of pre-trade information transparency in pre-open call auction on market liquidity on the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SHSE). We examine the natural experiment affected by the Shanghai Stock Exchange in July 2006 when it changed its pre-open auction algorithm from an entirely black box into a limited transparent system with a closed order book. We find that the increase in pre-trade information transparency coincides with a statistically significant reduction in spread at the best quotes. The paper reports on the segmentation of Swiss senior travellers on the basis of their travel motivation. Switzerland is considered a mature market which is why this country serves as a role model for future travel behaviour. In contrast to previous studies, which identified up to six clusters, the results reveal that in the case analysed there are three clusters. Two of them partially represent a life cycle concept: TIME HONOURED BON VIVANTS (phase 1; towards the end of a professional life), and GRIZZLED EXPLORERS (phase 2; from the start of a retired life). This paper highlights the role of hatred and its evolution in determining the nature of peace between groups, or nations, after reaching, and while implementing, truce. It proposes that weak inertia, diminishing memory of hatred and low propensity to reciprocate hatred are essential for reaching a genuine and stable peace. In the case of mutual abstinence from violence, genuine peace process prevails if both groups have sufficiently weak inertia and strongly diminishing memories of hatred and low proponsities to reciprocate hatred. Diagenesis is now recognized as a potentially major source of error in paleoclimatic reconstructions from fossil and modern coral geochemical records. Key to avoiding spurious results caused by diagenesis is thorough screening of coral material prior to geochemical analysis. In this data brief we present color images from thin sections of fossil and modern Porites corals and demonstrate the effectiveness of thin sections in detecting low levels of diagenesis. The images presented here cover a range of coral preservation levels from pristine aragonite to 100% calcite. The Atmospheric Chemistry Experiment (ACE) satellite was launched on 12 August 2003. Its two instruments measure vertical profiles of over 30 atmospheric trace gases by analyzing solar occultation spectra in the ultraviolet/visible and infrared wavelength regions. The reservoir gases HNO3, ClONO2, and N2O5 are three of the key species provided by the primary instrument, the ACE Fourier Transform Spectrometer (ACE-FTS). This paper describes the ACE-FTS version 2.2 data products, including the N2O5 update, for the three species and presents validation comparisons with available observations. Ultrafine fibers with diameters ranging from 50 to 300 nm were prepared from DNA/single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs)/poly(ethylene oxide) blended dispersion. Well-defined electrospun fibers were obtained by good control of key dispersion properties related to electrospinning, such as ionic conductivity, surface tension, and viscosity. Raman spectroscopy confirmed the presence of SWNT in the resulting fibers, indicating good interaction between DNA and SWNT. The resulting fibers also exhibited electroactive behavior and could be used as an immobilization matrix for a glucose oxidase enzyme biosensor. Vertical profiles of NO2 and NO have been obtained from solar occultation measurements by the Atmospheric Chemistry Experiment (ACE), using an infrared Fourier Transform Spectrometer (ACE-FTS) and (for NO2) an ultraviolet-visible-near-infrared spectrometer, MAESTRO (Measurement of Aerosol Extinction in the Stratosphere and Troposphere Retrieved by Occultation). In this paper, the quality of the ACE-FTS version 2.2 NO2 and NO and the MAESTRO version 1.2 NO2 data are assessed using other solar occultation measurements

The ACE-FTS (Atmospheric Chemistry Experiment Fourier Transform Spectrometer) solar occultation instrument that was launched onboard the Canadian SCISAT-1 satellite in August 2003 is measuring vertical profiles from the upper troposphere to the lower mesosphere for a large number of atmospheric constituents. Methane is one of the key species. The version v2.2 data of the ACE-FTS CH4 data have been compared to correlative satellite, balloon-borne and ground-based Fourier transform infrared remote sensing data to assess their quality. Evidence‐Based Medicine (EBM) has now been part of the dominant medical paradigm for 15 years, and has been frequently debated and progressively modified. One question about EBM that has not yet been considered systematically, and is now particularly timely, is the question of the novelty, or otherwise, of the principles and practices of EBM. Electrospray ionisation tandem mass spectrometry has allowed the unambiguous identification andquantification of individual lens phospholipids in human and six animal models. Using this approach ca. 100unique phospholipids have been characterised. Parallel analysis of the same lens extracts by a novel directinsertionelectron-ionization technique found the cholesterol content of human lenses to be significantlyhigher (ca. 6 times) than lenses from the other animals.The most abundant phospholipids in all the lenses examined were choline-containing phospholipids. In rat,mouse, sheep, cow, pig and chicken, thesewere present largely as phosphatidylcholines, in contrast 66% of thetotal phospholipid in Homo sapienswas sphingomyelin, with the most abundant being dihydrosphingomyelins,in …
