The Institute for Policy and Economic Development (IPED) at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) was contracted by the Upper Rio Grande Workforce Development Board (URGWDB) to conduct an employee satisfaction survey as one component of a larger evaluation project. Employee satisfaction as defined in this survey includes quality of facilities and equipment as well as overall work setting and climate. The goal of this research is to assess the quality of URGWDB as a place to work and as an organization that has the processes in place to adapt and implement change to improve.

The Institute for Policy and Economic Development (IPED) at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) was contracted by the UTEP School of Nursing to conduct an interest survey for a possible Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. Respondents were asked directly if they were interested in participating in such a program. The goal of this research is to assess the interest of LVNs in participating in a program that would provide them with the opportunity to earn their BSN.

In 2007, the Institute for Policy and Economic Development (IPED) at the University of Texas at El Paso was contracted by the City of El Paso to conduct a survey of UTEP student attitudes and perceptions pertaining to the city’s future and general quality of life issues in El Paso. Specific to the goals of the survey was to determine areas of focus for targeting improvements in the quality of life for the survey population in order to retain more UTEP graduates.

This study was conducted by the Institute for Policy and Economic Development (IPED) at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) at the request of Boeing Corporation in the state of Texas in order to measure the economic impact of Boeing activities on the state. These include direct expenditures on wages and salaries, as well as supplier expenditures, other direct costs expended such as tuition reimbursements, and philanthropic activities.

Project ARRIBA is an El Paso-based economic and workforce development program. As of the end of 2006, Project ARRIBA has assisted over 1000 individuals in building their stock of human capital with the intent of increasing their work-life earning capacity. The purpose of this report is to identify the extent to which this has occurred and to assess the economic impact of the Project’s activities and the program graduates on the regional economic system.
