The University of New Orleans’ Survey Research Center (SRC) conducted a live interviewer telephone survey of 429 registered voters in Louisiana. Telephone numbers were selected at random from a sample frame of registered voters. Interviews were conducted from October 25 to November 2. The combined landline and cell phone sample matches the gender, age, and race parameters from the voter file obtained from the Louisiana Secretary of State. The margin of error is +/- 4.7 percent at a 95% confidence level.

The University of New Orleans Survey Research Center (SRC) conducted a live interviewer telephone survey of registered voters in Orleans Parish and Jefferson Parish. These surveys are designed to provide an ongoing picture of how voters view local government services and the general quality of life. They highlight the problems that are of greatest concern to the voters, as well as areas of satisfaction in their parish. The series can also inform the public and officials about specific areas of perceived deterioration or improvement.

The University of New Orleans’ Survey Research Center (SRC) conducted a live interviewer telephone survey of 605 likely voters in Orleans Parish. We asked respondents to rate Mayor LaToya Cantrell’s job performance. We also inquired into which candidates likely voters would vote for in the two at-large city council elections. Lastly, we asked respondents to tell us what they thought was the biggest problem facing Orleans Parish. Their responses were recorded verbatim.

Over the last eight years, New Orleans voters have been more satisfied with life in the city than in previous years, according to the 2018 Quality of Life Survey conducted by the University of New Orleans Survey Research Center. The survey, also known as the UNO Poll, found that while Orleans Parish residents consider crime to be the biggest problem facing the parish, they are much less likely to report that than they did two years ago.

A survey of 617 randomly selected Jefferson Parish registered voters was conducted March 18-20, 2018 by the University of New Orleans Survey Research Center on the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s race scheduled for March 24, 2018. Survey respondents were asked in an interactive voice response telephone survey (IVR)1 who they preferred in the upcoming sheriff’s race. Interviews were conducted November 1-8, 2017. The combined landline and cell phone sample matches the gender, age, race, and council district parameters from the voter file obtained from the Louisiana Secretary of State. An automated interactive voice response (IVR) survey of 426 randomly selected Jefferson Parish registered voters was conducted Tuesday October 17, 2017 on the topics of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s race scheduled for March 24, 2018 and the job approval of Jefferson Parish President Mike Yenni. The survey was conducted by University of New Orleans political science doctoral candidate Tony Licciardi who is a research assistant at UNO’s Survey Research Center under Dr. Edward Chervenak. Licciardi also teaches state and local government at UNO. The sample of 426 respondents yields a margin of error of 4.78% with 95% confidence.

An automated IVR survey of 525 randomly selected Louisiana registered voters was conducted Tuesday September 26, 2017 on the subject of the National Football League’s players who protest the national anthem. The survey was conducted by University of New Orleans political science doctoral candidate Tony Licciardi who is a research assistant at UNO’s Survey Research Center under Dr. Edward Chervenak. Licciardi also teaches state and local government at UNO. The sample of 525 respondents yields a margin of error of 4.28% with 95% confidence.

According to the survey, President Trump has a 58 percent job approval rating, which equals the 58 percent of the vote that he received from Louisiana voters in November’s presidential election. There appears to be a gender gap in the president’s approval rating as two-thirds of men, compared to half of women, give Trump positive marks for his job performance.

The Survey Research Center conducted an interactive voice response telephone survey, also known as a “robo-poll,” of 919 respondents on Feb. 7. According to the survey, Governor John Bel Edwards enjoys an approval rating of 49 percent. Three quarters of respondents believe that the state is experiencing financial difficulties, and two-thirds of respondents say there is a need for a special legislative session.

The University of New Orleans’ Survey Research Center (SRC) sponsored an automated interactive voice response (IVR) telephone survey of 776 active registered voters in Louisiana on Tuesday, December 6, 2016. We asked likely voters who they preferred in the 2016 Senate runoff election and whether they thought Obamacare should be repealed. The poll shows that the Republican candidate John Kennedy has a comfortable lead over his Democratic challenger, Foster Campbell. We asked respondents whether they believed Obamacare should be repealed. Likely Louisiana voters back the idea of repealing the healthcare law by a two-to-one margin.

Our goal was learn about the public’s perception of David Duke-R since he recently announced his candidacy for the open US Senate seat in Louisiana. The poll gauged Duke’s favorability ratings among likely Louisiana voters. We then asked respondents whether they would vote for him in the primary. We also asked Louisiana voters if they would support him if he faced a Democrat in the runoff. Finally, the survey asked respondents whether they approve or disapprove of Governor John Bel Edwards’ job performance. Demographic variables include race, gender, age, and education. Respondents were also asked to self-report their party identification.

This survey analyzed the public’s perception of Louisiana’s current budget situation and attempted to identify who residents believe is responsible for the state’s budgetary difficulties. The poll also gauged the favorability ratings of the governor and the state legislature. A question was also included on the partisan choice of registered voters in the upcoming US Senate election. In addition, the survey asked respondents to self-identify their race, gender, age, and total household income.

The University of New Orleans’ Survey Research Center sponsored an automated telephone survey of active registered Republican voters in Louisiana Wednesday March 2, 2016. The sample for the survey was randomly selected from all active registered Republicans in the state. The respondent sample of 1,874 yields a 2.26% margin of error at a 95% level of confidence. The sample matches the gender, age, race, and regional parameters from the voter file obtained from the Louisiana Secretary of State.

The University of New Orleans Survey Research Center, in association with the software company Lucid, has released the results of a statewide opt-in Internet poll that gauges voter preferences in Saturday’s primary election for governor of Louisiana. The poll surveyed 623 registered voters from Oct. 14-19, 2015.
The poll shows that Republican David Vitter has a slight lead over Democratic candidate John Bel Edwards. Two other Republicans, Jay Dardenne and Scott Angelle, lag behind the top two candidates by double-digits.

The overall survey has a margin of error +/- 4.1 percentage points. The response rate for the survey was 9 percent, which is in the range of what national survey organizations have reported. The UNO Survey Research Center began its Quality of Life series in 1986. Since then the quality of life and government services in Jefferson and Orleans parishes has been assessed every other year.
