A Theory Of The Consumer Cooperative Unit In The Free-Exchange Economy, Ralph N. Calkins

The construction of the voluntary associations leading to cooperative socialism in a free-exchange economy offers a complex, but intriguing problem. This complexity arises from the joint difficulties of the politico-economic cooperative philosophy and the relations of the associative business unit to the generally uncontrolled economy. Because of the century-long accumulation of ideals and practical policy, there is today no simple way of outlining the precepts of Cooperatism, the philosophy of cooperation. For reasons that will appear soon, a chronological approach was required first, and an integrated approach was later adopted.
