This study aims to assess the competitive advantage of foreign trade in agri-food products of five Association of South East Asia Nations (ASEAN) countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, and the Philippines between 2003–2022 by dividing the period into the global crisis in 2009, the trade war between China and the United States (US) in 2018, and the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. The study built an econometric model using the Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) and Revealed Symmetric Comparative Advantage (RSCA) indicators. The RCEP agreement is currently the largest free trade agreement involving ten ASEAN member countries and their trading partners, comprising around 30% of the world’s GDP. As an international organisation in the Southeast Asian region, ASEAN has the desire to increase its regional economic integration, one of which is through the RCEP agreement. This article aims to discuss how ASEAN attempts to enhance regional economic integration through its roles during the RCEP agreement's formation process. This article examined the elements that contributed to ASEAN counter-terrorism cooperation's failure to prevent the presence of Foreign Terrorist Fighters (FTF) in the Marawi conflict in 2017. The massive ISIS propaganda resulted in an increase in FTF mobilization from several countries to unite the Abu Sayyaf and Maute groups in taking control of Marawi City. This study used a qualitative method and deductive analysis technique by compiling relevant literature on ASEAN's cooperation in counter-terrorism, the FTF problem, and the Marawi conflict. Arus Foreign Terrorist Fighters (FTF) memicu kekhawatiran dunia, termasuk negara-negara di Asia Tenggara. Pada tahun 2017, Indonesia mengajukan inisiatif “Our Eyes” untuk menciptakan sebuah wadah bagi negara-negara ASEAN untuk bertukar informasi intelijen guna memberantas kegiatan terorisme transnasional. Inisiatif tersebut kemudian diubah menjadi “ASEAN Our Eyes” (AOE). Tetapi, beberapa tahun setelah dibentuknya inisiatif tersebut, terjadi peristiwa pengeboman gereja di Jolo, Filipina. Inisiden tersebut menunjukkan hambatan untuk mengimplementasikan inisiatif AOE. This study was conducted to analyze the effect of international mass media sentiment on macroeconomic indicators in five ASEAN countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, and Brunei Darussalam. The purpose of this study is to develop a macroeconomic forecast model based on the analysis of macroeconomic indices and international sentiment that combines GDELT and World Development Indicators (WDI) data. The research result states that each economic index variable has a correlation with the news sentiment variable. The indicators most correlated with the news sentiment variable were Current Account Balance (CAB) (0.777628), Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) (0.727840), and Inflation (-0.223941). Therefore, …

Asian’s financial crisis in 1997/1998 is a crisis that caused by exchange rate change which is contagious from one to another country. By having an active regional financial cooperation, this crisis can be prevented better. In the context of regional coordination, it is important to know the impact of exchange rate on inflation, whether it has a homogenous or heterogenous impact across ASEAN countries. By forming data panel of ASEAN-5, using broadmoney, trade openness and trading partner inflation rate as control variable with FGLS Estimator, it is known that the impact of exchange rate on Inflation in ASEAN-5 is heterogeneous.

This article analyzes the effect of regional economic integration on cross-national policy through the ASEAN Open Skies treaty, particularly in Indonesia, Philippines, and Singapore. This qualitative research applies the concepts of intergovernmentalist-supranationalist regional institution and causal-mechanism that lead to cross-national policy convergence. I argue that ASEAN regionalism as an intergovernmentalist institution affects the process of policymaking, the implementation of ASEAN Open Skies in the regional level, and the adoption of it in the domestic level.
