When translating proverbs, which are loaded with moral and cultural messages, translators are required to be able to transfer the messages appropriately. This study aims to identify and describes the verbal symbols and cultural imagery of Lio Ethnic (LE) community which are contained in Batuna’u Prayer (BP). The theory used as analytical scalpel is the Cultural Linguistics Theory (CLT). This article discusses the typology of a hand stencil pattern cave painting located in Leang Uhallie, Bone district, South Sulawesi. Irving Rouse’s taxonomy classification methods were used to find the typology of the hand stencil pattern. This study shows that there are three forms of hand stencil with 21 variants. This typologycal study of the hand stencil also shows the dominant and the unique pattern form of Leang Uhallie.

The goal of the study is to review changes in dryland farming culture of atoni pah meto in North Center Timor District caused by global climate changes. The research method used was qualitative descriptive: the data collecting method used was interviews, observations, and the document study. Research results prove that the atoni pah meto which consists of eighteen farming rituals, five work patterns, work division between genders, and work ethos, has shifted. It has been argued that effective efforts to foster SME export require clear understanding of the factors that stimulate them to export. This study analyses the determinants of working among 10-17 years children and to investigate the presence of Luxury Axiom. Child tends to work as they gets older, has biological ties to the household head and lives in a rural area. The higher levels of household heads education lead to the childrens been less likely to work. With regard to the Luxury Axiom, household income is negatively impact the work decision. Birth order is positively related to working and the probability of working decreases by the presence of employed adult. Finally, the impact of the childs activities varies by provinces.

Even though government of Indonesia invests billions of rupiah to tackle deforestation, its effectiveness has been questionable. This study analyses changes in rates of forest cover in Indonesia and their association with forestry expenditures (FE) spent by the provincial governments. Based on 2007 to 2010 data, linear multiple regression results indicate that FE is not enough to tackle the negative change in forest land cover that could represent deforestation. Moreover, it was found that FE have negative association with forest land cover and therefore, can be associated to deforestation. The article would employ spiral model of conflict proposed by Robert Jervis as a theoretical framework to scrutinize contemporary US and Chinese contemporary competition. Tipologi Komunikasi Minoritas Dalam Kultur Diskriminatif: Studi Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis Terhadap Tipologi Komunikasi Tokoh Tionghoa Indonesia, Silvie Tanaga

Studi ini membahas strategi komunikasi antar budaya yang diterapkan sepuluh tokoh Tionghoa Indonesia dalam kultur yang diskriminatif. Sepuluh tokoh tersebut adalah AW, DNT, LAD, MA, MB, SMB, TJH, YJ, YB, dan SAP. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori Co-Cultural Mark Orbe dengan strategi Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan penerapan yang dominan pada orientasi akomodasi, yaitu upaya para informan menjalin interaksi yang harmonis dengan kelompok dominan namun pada saat bersamaan tidak ingin menghilangkan identitasnya sebagai Tionghoa Indonesia. Juga terungkap bahwa tipologi nonassertive assimilation diterapkan para informan sebagai upaya menyesuaikan diri ketika berinteraksi dengan kelompok dominan. Penelitian ini memaparkan pemikiran Pierre Bourdieu dan Theo van Leuween dalam membongkar kekerasan simbolik terhadap perempuan melalui medium fotografi di facebook. Pemaknaan foto melalui semiotika sosial Theo van Leuween merupakan hasil objektif-subjektif peneliti yang dikonfirmasi oleh informan, dilanjutkan dengan analisis mendalam dari pemikiran Pierre Boudieu tentang Habitus, doxa, modal, dan arena sebagai struktur pembentukan kekerasan simbolik. Bentuk-bentuk kekerasan simbolik yang dilihat dari semiotika sosial adalah fokus utama foto ada pada bagian payudara, penggunaan atribusi fotografi (kamera, lensa,tripod, tas kamera, warna kaos) untuk mendominasi perempuan, kata-kata vulgar dalam group facebook KFI, serta jenis pakaian yang dikenakan perempuan saat pemotretan.
