During May of 2018, TAS Inc. conducted a cultural resources survey of proposed electrical conduit realignments on the Indian Mesa Wind Farm located east of Fort Stockton in northeast Pecos County. The project is north of Interstate 10 approximately 6 miles northeast of Bakersfield, on University Lands Block 16; Sections 11-14. In May 2017, AmaTerra Environmental, Inc. (AmaTerra) conducted an archeological resource survey of a proposed deep borehole drill site in Pecos County, Texas. The project area was located on University of Texas land and included a 12,700-foot access road to be regraded, three potential powerline extensions measuring 6,000 to 6,500 feet each, and a 320-acre circular buffer zone surrounding the borehole, 20 rectangular acres of which were to be utilized as a lease area by the Department of Energy for the drill site. The total area surveyed for the project was 414 acres.

Index of Texas Archaeology: Open Access Gray Literature from the Lone Star State

The present report outlines all investigations at site 41PC476 from June 26-30, 1996. It also details the methods used and the results obtained during test excavation of the site. A brief analysis of the cultural materials identified at the site is included. Eroded burned rock concentrations are exposed on the surface of site 4 1PC476, and fire-cracked rock was found below the ground surface as well. Although a few lithic artifacts were found in test excavations, no ethnobotanical remains were identified. All diagnostic artifacts were recovered from the surface.
