Contributions Of Mindfulness To Improvisational Behavior And Consequences On Business Performance And Stress Of Entrepreneurs During Economic Downturn, Peerayuth Charoensukmongkol

This research investigates the role of mindfulness among Thai entrepreneurs that can be linked to their improvisational behavior that, in turn, explains business performance and stress during a period of economic contraction in Thailand. This research collected survey data from a sample of 186 owners of small retail shops in major marketplaces in Bangkok, Thailand. Results from partial least squares structural equation modeling show that mindfulness had a positive relationship with the degree of improvisational behavior exhibited by entrepreneurs. Shedding Light On Employee Theft’S Dark Figure: A Typology Of Employee Theft Nonreporting Rationalizations, Jay P. Kennedy

Employee theft is one of the most harmful crimes a small business can experience. Yet despite the large financial, organizational, and emotional toll employee theft takes, it is one of the most underreported crimes committed against small businesses. Using data obtained from interviews with victimized small business owners, this article develops a typology of employee theft nonreporting rationalizations. Additionally, interview data indicate that nonreporting rationalizations follow a general pattern of use, beginning with an assessment of the theft as trivial or significant, and proceeding to a consideration of personal factors that influence nonreporting, which is followed by a consideration of …

This case describes the attempts of a small residential construction company to close on a home that they have built. The problem for the characters in question is how to proceed in this situation given the fact that a third party lien has been put against their properties because the developer they bought the properties from had not paid his landscaper. The case has a difficulty level appropriate for a freshmen and/or sophomore level course.
