The report outlined a set of twelve recommendations related to Web-based access to electronic indexes and journals. The author relates his decision to establish an Ask a Librarian social networking group for students at Valdosta State University in Georgia. One of the appeals of social networking Web sites to users is the variety of services in one interface. He discovered that many students are using the Facebook site while researching. He recommends the creation of individual accounts because Facebook discourages institute-wide accounts.

The article reports on the technology upgrade at Georgia State University Library in Atlanta, Goergia. It offers a look at renovations of its facilities and exterior. More than 350 computers were installed in its new Information Commons and Learning Commons. The library officials jointly worked with the school's Information Systems & Technology department and established two computer technical support desk within the library. It is noted that its library employees need to further their knowledge and undergo training about various issues in library science. This panel presentation report is on the in-house use of virtualization technologies in large research, midsize, and public libraries. Our presenters represent a variety of backgrounds and types of libraries, and will describe how leveraging virtualization in their particular setting has led to increased capacity, while reducing costs, downtime, and management headaches. It is our hope that by sharing our virtualization successes we will broaden the discussion on when to build locally and when to move to the cloud.
