As a Marketing Research professional, I see that, generally, members of my profession demonstrate a keen lack of skill definition and training around practices that lead to insight. My Master’s Project lays the groundwork for me to become a change leader as a catalyst for insight skill-building in my field. The project includes …

Could this generate a massive impact leading to the Holy Grail of marketing—a rare insight into the code for building strong brand/customer relationships? As a veteran copywriter and creative director in the ad industry, my tools for gaining customer insight were limited to traditional research and strategy methodologies such as focus groups, interviews and surveys, and to my gut instincts. Once introduced to the science of creativity, I became curious about certain connections to human behavior—specifically connections between the physiology of the …

This project contains a spreadsheet and data catalog that show documented impacts of Creative Problem Solving (CPS), the domains/industries in which they occurred, what type of CPS application was used, and the literature that provided the information. This information is cross-referenced to determine good target markets according to type of CPS product, what domain/industry is being sold to, and what type of impact is being sought. Analysis of marketing materials determined the information sought, which in turn influenced the categories of data used on the spreadsheet. All materials are contained in the appendixes catalog for easy reference.
