The Technische Universität München library was the first university library in Germany to be certified by TÜV with respect to its ISO 9001:2001 quality management. One of the main objectives of our quality management policy is to measure customer satisfaction not only in the short-term, but also over longer periods of time, in order to constantly develop and improve our services.

This paper discusses the role of sustainability metrics in quality management in Library and Information Services (LIS), contributing to the ongoing debate by developing an integrated framework that offers an opportunity to measure sustainability value, influence and meaning of information services, and providing an illustrative example of LIS professionals and students discussion in Portugal.
