The most recent edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5) provides clinicians with a new personality assessment tool, the Personality Inventory for DSM-5. It is one of a number of assessments provided for use “in research and evaluation as potentially useful tools to enhance clinical decision-making…” The PID-5 does not contain validity scales to assist clinicians in assessing personality and making diagnostic decisions.
