Christian Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Lucy C. Phillips
Christian Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Lucy C. Phillips
Fidei et Veritatis: The Liberty University Journal of Graduate Research
Albert Ellis was the creator of rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT). Although Ellis opposed organized religion and religious beliefs for most of his life, this type of therapy can be adapted for use with many religious groups, including Christians. This paper will discuss biblical support for REBT as well as incongruences of Christian tenants and REBT. Christian REBT (CREBT) will be explored, including the therapeutic techniques that can be used. The efficacy of CREBT will be covered. Since there is a paucity of randomized clinical trials examining CREBT, Christian cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) will also be discussed. This paper will …

Mindfulness-Based Group Therapy For The Caregivers Of Those With Id, Krista E. Kirk
Fidei et Veritatis: The Liberty University Journal of Graduate Research
Caregivers of those with intellectual disabilities (ID) are susceptible to clinical depression and anxiety due to the overwhelming burden and outlook for the inevitable physical and emotional dependency. Treatments such as mindfulness-based stress reduction and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy have shown to lessen such burden and lower psychological distress in caregivers; however, the rising costs of such treatments advocate for a more efficient avenue. Mindfulness-based group cognitive therapy has been minimally researched yet shows promising factors in which clients find support through collaboration and feedback while utilizing the lower costs found in a group format. This article highlights the necessary factors …
Ptsd From Childhood Trauma As A Precursor To Attachment Issues, Christy Owen
Ptsd From Childhood Trauma As A Precursor To Attachment Issues, Christy Owen
Fidei et Veritatis: The Liberty University Journal of Graduate Research
The past 20 years have been turbulent regarding Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD), with conflicting research about its causes, effects, treatment, and prognosis. The current diagnostic criteria in the DSM-5 fails to adequately address this disorder. A number of deviant and maladaptive behaviors common amongst children with RAD are not even mentioned in the diagnostic criteria. As such, the diagnostic definition is almost unidentifiable or incompatible with real-life conduct manifestations of the disorder. Rather, this author contends that RAD is foundationally a unique and extreme form of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) from Early Childhood Trauma. The child endured unspeakable neglect and/or …

Psychopathology And Crime Causation: Insanity Or Excuse?, Meagan Cline
Fidei et Veritatis: The Liberty University Journal of Graduate Research
One of the most controversial topics in the criminal justice industry is the "insanity defense" and its applicability or validity in prosecuting criminal cases. The purpose of this assignment is to identify and discuss psychopathology and crime causation in terms of mental illness, research, and the insanity defense. For this evaluation, information was gathered from scholarly research, textbooks, dictionaries, and published literature. These sources were then carefully reviewed and applied to the evaluation in a concise, yet informative, manner. This assignment also addresses some of the key terms in psychopathology and crime causation, including various theories, definitions, and less commonly …

Ancova Study Of Psychotherapy Treatment Of Internet Pornography Addiction In Heterosexual Men, Saudia L. Twine
Fidei et Veritatis: The Liberty University Journal of Graduate Research
Internet pornography has grown to become a problem that exists within the United States and across the globe. For those who suffer from this problematic behavior experience individual and familial problems as well as cause damage to the psyche, professionally and sexually. Those who suffer from addiction do not possess the ability to be able to stop the behavior on their own. Treatment is needed to help internet pornography users and addicts to recover while minimizing relapse from its consumption. This research proposal is a randomized, controlled, clinical ANCOVA study that will determine the effectiveness of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and …
