This paper focuses on the implications of information operations (IO) on the U.S. Army's conduct of land warfare over the next decade. This transitional period from the experimental Force XXI to the digitized Army XXI offers many promises, potentials and even pitfalls for the world's predominant land power force. BG James M. Terrorist Laser Employment Against Civil Aviation: Issues, Concerns, And Potential Incidents, Robert J. Bunker

This article explores civil aviation vulnerability to terrorist laser (light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation) employment by focusing on the laser as a weapon against aircraft, laser classes and accessibility, past patterns of laser illumination and lasing of aircraft, recent lasing of aircraft in the Los Angeles area, and future possibilities. Most importantly, this article provides transit policing professionals with an "early warning" concerning a new threat to civil aviation which may have now developed.

Increasingly, national security scholars recognize that the world in which we were born is passing away and, with it, many of the premises, conventions and structures of modern civilization. Research suggests that the transition into the post-modern era will usher in scientific, economic, social, political and military changes of a magnitude never before experience in American history. Equivalent in scale to the European Renaissance and the Dark Ages, this revolution in political and military affairs, offers both great potentials and dangers for the American public.
