Menstrual beliefs and practices in Bali defy simple classification. Menstruation may be relegated to the dump, as when a woman had to undergo a rite on a street midden when her monthly period coincided with the ritual time for a purification ceremony. But menstruation is also viewed as conferring raja status, and women do exhibit agency in this supposedly passive process. Experiences of menstruation, furthermore, may vary according to caste status.

"Return To Sender": Confronting Lynching And Our Haunted Landscapes, Mark J. Auslander

This article considers a set of controversial images, primarily taken between 1880 and 1920, depicting lynchings and racial violence. Emory University has made these images publicly available, prompting some to worry that the collection will re-inflict trauma on those who suffered under racism in the United States. The articles asks, in part: if new initiatives in museums or other public spaces could help Americans to collectively confront their inner demons and move beyond the timeless repetition of trauma.

The focus ofthis project was to create activities that would encourage Kindergarten through Fourth grade elementary students in the use of nonfiction texts for personal enjoyment and information gathering. The project consists of activities designed to increase reading of nonfiction by the early elementary student. The activities are developed based upon a review of research that indicates improved reading comprehension of expository text among students who are taught to use interactive strategies. Research indicates that school climate is best understood through a combination of variables. The first set of variables includes physical climate, culture and organization, culture, group-relationships and psychological (individual) attitudes. The second set has many subsets of variables that also contribute to the climate of each individual school. These variables are interwoven and overlap to create the climate of a school. The primary purpose of this project was to compile a review of literature on school climate. This project will discuss the impact of school climate on the day-to-day operation of school.

The relationship between staff professional development in technology that enhanced staff efficiencies were studied. A model staff development program in technology has been developed to make connections between teacher's readiness and their mastery of technology skills. Research has been obtained that indicated a direct correction between teachers' readiness in technology and their implementation of technology into the classroom. Secondary teachers must be taught using inservices, practice skills and given opportunities to share their experiences with colleagues. Administrators must take leadership in developing and supporting a quality technology training program that recognizes the staffs' individualized needs.

The purpose of this project was to create a model public relations program for Federal Way High School. Model public relations programs were studied and a review of literature was conducted. The benefits found from a successful public relations program were consistent levy passage, constructive media relations, positive school environments, and proactive communication. The design of leadership education for fifth grade students was studied. Through the review of literature it was found that leadership education should have a student-centered approach. Leadership education and service learning can be taught together because students can directly apply their leadership skills to an authentic situation. From the review of literature it was discovered that true service learning involves several key elements. The benefits of service learning, specifically for at-risk students are addressed.

They have been passed by and abandoned rather than broken through in the course of scientific progress.
