The purpose of this study was to understand the evolving visitor experience at Monocacy National Battlefield (MONO) in Fredrick, Maryland and, specifically, the way this National Park Service site serves both its’ tourist and local visitors. MONO has two main demographics who utilize it: individuals seeking to learn about historical importance of the site in the Civil War and local recreational visitors from Frederick and surrounding communities. The focus of this paper is sex tourism in the Caribbean, more specifically on Euro-American white women traveling for sexual relationships with Caribbean men. I will be analyzing these relationships through an intersectional approach by race, gender, and socioeconomic perspectives. The key point of my paper is to gain insight into the complicated sex for money 'relationships' and how they exist in places such as the Caribbean.

Bulletins

Tourism and recreation constitute a growing and important part of Maine's economy. During 1973, Maine's tourist industry accounted for nearly $259 million of direct expenditures by tourists who spent an estimated 22.5 million tourist days in the State (4, p.2). This business activity provided 6.5 percent of 1973 total employment for all industries in Maine and generated state government tax revenues of nearly $30 million or approximately 6 percent of all state revenues for that year (4, p. 3).

A recent study of tourism in Maine indicates that total business activity generated by that industry can be estimated using a …
