Recent LibQual+ (2004) and Off-campus Satisfaction (2002, 2006) surveys at Western Michigan University revealed that graduate students had information needs that were not being met. Many lack awareness of resources and the necessary research skills for performing graduate level research, yet instructors are reluctant to relinquish class time for library sessions and the students themselves are reluctant to seek the individual help they need. In 2005-6 we collaborated with the Graduate College to offer new graduate workshops that were not class related but were instead part of a Strategies for Success series that was already in place. Developments in the global context and in national conditions have stimulated a re-examination of higher education relevance in the context of the increasing role of knowledge in the economic and social life of nations. In general, and such is the case also for Mexico, there are increasing expectations regarding higher education potential contribution to society. The college-decision process that prospective students make has been characterized as deliberate and prolonged -- a classic extensive problem solving behavior model. New research indicates that a significant proportion of students engage in impluse purchase behavior when choosing a college. Marketing implications for enrollment management and "Blink An Intervention Model" are presented
