Parallel Session: The Mediating Role Of Brand Image Of Health Product Brands On Consumer-Brand Relationships In Social Media, Dilip Mutum, Jing Ning, Ezlika Ghazali
International Conference on Marketing
This paper presents the finding of a study which examines the mediating role of brand image towards the effects of various brand factors influencing consumer-brand relationship, viz., brand experience, brand attribute, endorser effect, brand familiarity, online advertisement and social media engagement. This paper was extracted from a much larger study which examined the relationships in the context of health product brands in Malaysia. The results of this study hold important implications for both practitioners and academics. Marketers need to make efforts to further improve their brand image and communicate it clearly to the consumers. This will lead to better consumer …

Parallel Session: Translating Practice Theory Into Consumer Research With Coherent Research Strategies, Yoon Lee, Amrul Asraf Mohd- Any, Norbani Che-Ha
International Conference on Marketing
This article contributes to the underexplored methodological issues of translating practice theory into empirical consumer research. Practice theory conceptualises consumption as meaningful outcomes of social accomplishments which decentres the traditional influential roles of consumer emphasizes the performative dimension of the doings, saying, and material objects. Because consumers involved with practices are treated merely as „carriers‟, the analysis focus is shifted from consumer to consumption practice. However, practices are difficult to access, observe, measure or represent because practices are hidden, tacit, and often difficult to articulate. These challenges and specifically methodological issues of social practice theory are seldom acknowledged and addressed. …

Following the relative stabilization of the country after Dayton Peace agreement, B&H has been attracting growing number of foreigners who come to Bosnia for work or education. In recent years, Ilidza area of Sarajevo city has faced with an influx of such foreigners due to recently established university campuses in the area. This development caused large number of foreign students and professors, mostly from Turkey, to reside in and around Ilidza. This study investigates if these foreign students and professors face with discrimination in the rental market, using Oaxaca-Blinder decomposition method as a statistical tool. Ordinary least square (OLS) regressions …
The Identification And Prevention Of Insider Threats, Matthew D. Waters
The Identification And Prevention Of Insider Threats, Matthew D. Waters
Posters-at-the-Capitol
Insider threats, or attacks against a company from within, are a pressing issue both domestically and internationally. Frequencies of these threats increase each year adding to the overall importance of further research analysis. In fact, many case studies have been conducted which state that these employees who participate in insider attacks tend to exhibit certain personality and characteristic traits, as well as certain observable behaviors, that would indicate to other employees that an attack is imminent. It is hypothesized that companies will be able to take a more preventative stance of security as opposed to a reactive stance by identifying …

Community Resource Audit Of Low-Income And Poor Children, Jesse Caldwell
Community Resource Audit Of Low-Income And Poor Children, Jesse Caldwell
LIS Student Conference
Poverty is on the rise within the United States. Public Libraries located in large cities and rural communities may be seeing an increase in usage from children who identify as low-income or poor. Using national statistics from the United States and local statistics from Lawrenceburg, Indiana , I will explain how poverty is on the rise within the United States. I will then outline how to discover local poverty statistics and how those statistics can be used to directly engage the low-income and poor population within a library district.

Physicians range in age from their early twenties to their nineties. These same physicians care for people many times, from before their birth until their end of life experiences. Physicians must provide the best possible care to these patients. In order to do this, physicians need information. This poster presentation explores the information needs of physicians as well as the information seeking behavior these physicians follow.

The Invisible: Serving Individuals With Autism Spectrum Disorder, A Sensitivity Training, Rachel Combs
LIS Student Conference
According to the CDC, autism is the fastest-growing developmental disability (2008). In the US, the prevalence is estimated at 1 in 68 births. Academic libraries need to be aware of this growing population so that we can educate library staff and be prepared to help people who learn and communicate differently. College students with disabilities face inequity when using the academic library, including the physical space, the library website, programming or lack thereof, restrictive loan periods, and resources that aren’t available in formats that they need. Academic libraries must be proactive and learn to recognize and minimize barriers, educate library …

Community Resource Audit: Teen Users, Ashley Householder
LIS Student Conference
This poster presents the findings from my Community Resource Audit in LIS 601, which focused on teen library users. During my research, I found that teens usually seek information on the following topics: Health, Career Information, Homework Help, Reading Material, News, and General Curiosity. Along with addressing these needs, my presentation will also discuss barriers to teen access, including reasons why they might choose not to seek information. Finally, I will present my "Teen Resource Guide," which was designed to help teens conduct research on each of the aforementioned topics.

The Special Collections Research Center's education program offers students across all departments and disciplines the opportunity to learn from primary sources. By demystifying the research process, students are provided with powerful learning opportunities. As the Education Archivist Graduate Assistant, I plan and create activities for students visiting the SCRC to facilitate student learning and improve information literacy. This fast-growing, innovative program reached 2,038 students during the 2015-2016 academic year, and this is only one of many pieces of evidence pointing to the program's success.

The Teen Toolkit: Providing Reliable Resources To Students, Jaclyn Spraetz
LIS Student Conference
This poster highlights the Community Resource Audit I created on teenagers’ information seeking behaviors. By conducting a literature review as well as distributing a survey to teens, I found that while they want to be informed, they often do not seek out many different types of informational resources. To respond, I created an online guide that presents reliable open resources to help students with class projects and additional outlets to help them stay informed on current events.

Examining The Community Food Environments For Elementary School-Aged Children In The City Of London And Middlesex County, Ontario, Catherine Dubreck
GIS Day
Childhood obesity is a growing public health issue of global importance. In Canada, one in four children and youth are overweight or obese. Research suggests diet plays a crucial role in childhood obesity, and that prevalence rates of overweight or obesity among children in a neighborhood may relate to area socioeconomic characteristics and other environmental factors. The community nutrition environment (e.g., the type, location, and accessibility of food outlets) and the consumer nutrition environment (e.g., the price, promotion, placement, and availability of healthy options and nutrition information) can influence dietary habits, including the specific meal a child orders from a …

Students’ Perceptions and Stigma Toward Those with Intellectual and Physical Disabilities
BACKGROUND: Previous research has shown that there is a negative impact on those who are labeled as having an intellectual or physical disability (Green, Davis, Karshmer, Marsh, & Straight, 2005). The purpose of this research was to learn more about the stigma against those with disabilities and how one can cope with this stigma.
METHODS: The subjects of this study were 80 General Psychology students. Participants were randomly assigned to one of four conditions, which differed in which vignette received. The four vignettes described individuals with the disabilities of …

2016 Presidential Campaign And The American College Student, Madison Frost
Scholars Week
It is perceived by many that college students have low awareness of the presidential campaign and its candidates. Many blame the sources from which knowledge is attained. Most researchers agree that the Internet and newspaper are the most popular sources, and both are positively related to political knowledge (Kenski & Stroud, 2006; Valentino, Hutchings, & Dmitri, 2004; Cao, 2008). Cao (2008) also found a positive association between young adults and political comedy shows, which have become even more popular since 2008. Other researchers found that watching presidential debates increased knowledge of candidates, but only individuals who were already interested in …

A Gis Analysis Of Waulsortian-Like Mounds In The Mississippian Of Kentucky And Tennessee, Philip Roberson
Scholars Week
Following a mass extinction nearly 365 million years ago, bryozoans and crinoids replaced corals and stromatoporoids as the dominant framework organisms in reefs and, during the very earliest part of the Carboniferous period, they built reef-like structures that are known from Europe, North America and Africa. They are characterized by large size, a matrix of carbonate mud, and their major framework organisms.
Waulsortian-like mounds occur in geographically isolated patches in outcrop and in the subsurface of central Tennessee and Kentucky where they are associated with hydrocarbon production. These mounds have the same characteristic organisms as the European mounds and do …

A GIS-based analysis conducted for this project compares the cost of adoption from within the United States international. There is a focus on types of adoptions like special needs and race specific to provide an overall understanding of adoption in hopes to raise awareness.
Spaceways: Airspace In Outer Space, Scott Haeffelin
Spaceways: Airspace In Outer Space, Scott Haeffelin
Space Traffic Management Conference
Forecasted future demand in space travel is driving the need for the development of space traffic management. Currently, orbital space traffic is mostly unregulated with internationally agreed upon best practices and self-interest driving space operators to avoid collisions with other spacecraft. This paper explores the future of space travel by presenting a concept of creating “airspace in space” or spaceways to manage the ever growing volumes of space traffic. Spaceways are analogous to airspace for aircraft with the goal of increasing levels of safety and reducing probabilities of collision. These goals can be achieved by creating traffic rules, defining valuable …

Central Plains Network for Digital Asset Management
In the fall 2015 semester, a new course was offered at Virginia Wesleyan College (VWC) that involved a unique project collaboration between Professor Richard E. Bond and librarians, Patty Clark and Sophie Rondeau. The course, entitled Digital History 250, provided students with an introduction to how history is made and used in digital environments. Bond presented students with topics related to history and social media, spatial mapping, digital literacy, and the implications of crowd sourcing historical narratives, among others. The students were given a final project that involved creating digital exhibits using curated content from VWC yearbooks housed in the …
