The purpose of this study is to explore the factors contributing to stress during times of rapid change with healthcare staff working behind the scenes in a contact center. This study will focus on contact center employees working in a healthcare setting where rapid change is frequent and how this impacts individual stress levels. Organizations experience high rates of burnout amongst their staff. Whether it be team productivity, staff deadline completion pace, work engagement, staff turnover rates, or other relevant areas of a leader’s team, burnout has shown to cause a significant decrease in satisfaction and functionality in a staffer’s workplace (Maslach & Leiter, 2016). The increase in student trauma and mental illness is putting direct care professionals such as educators at risk of secondary traumatic stress. The purpose of this quantitative survey method research was to explore how nursing faculty within the Minnesota State system were affected by their work with traumatized students and if they experienced significant distress or impairment. The theoretical framework guiding this dissertation was the McCann and Pearlman’s Constructivist Self Development (CSD) theory. Sex offender treatment is often court ordered and part of conditional release for individuals who have been convicted of harmful sexual acts. Counselors working with this population have an important role in terms of supporting and addressing the needs of their clients, but also in terms of public safety. The educational field can prove to be a stressful occupation with various aspects being more stressful than others. The purpose of this qualitative research study was to explore the aspects of teaching that generate burnout in teachers with five years or less of teaching experience. The study used an anonymous online survey to collect data from teachers in the state of Minnesota. Research questions aimed to understand which aspects of teaching are the most stressful, how grade level (elementary, middle school, or high school) impacts burnout, and if professional development could help limit burnout. Over 40 years after Freudenberger (1975) introduced the term, burnout remains a critical concern among mental health clinicians. Many researchers in recent decades have focused their attention upon burnout prevention, exploring the practices of clinicians, and proposing the possible factors at-play in counselor, therapist, and social workers’ resiliency in the face of vicarious trauma, and other burnout factors.
