All organizations benefit from succession planning. Succession planning is the process used to identify critical roles, skills, and knowledge in your organization and to develop a plan for employees to step into those roles when they become vacant. Due to limited personnel, resources, and budgets, and the belief that succession planning is costly and complex, succession planning is often left unaddressed in smaller cities.
