Mindfulness research activity is surging within organizational science. Emerging evidence across multiple fields suggests that mindfulness is fundamentally connected to many aspects of workplace functioning, but this knowledge base has not been systematically integrated to date. This review coalesces the burgeoning body of mindfulness scholarship into a framework to guide mainstream management research investigating a broad range of constructs. The framework identifies how mindfulness influences attention, with downstream effects on functional domains of cognition, emotion, behavior, and physiology. Ultimately, these domains impact key workplace outcomes, including performance, relationships, and well-being. Consideration of the evidence on mindfulness at work stimulates important …

Growing Pains-From Standard Bibliography To Dynamic Web-Accessible Resource, Creating A Repository Of Popular And Scientific Writing On Roses Using Tei., Julia R. Tryon

Julia R Tryon

Twenty years ago, I started a project that I envisioned would culminate in a printed bibliography of writings on the Rose in English that would be as complete as possible—both books and articles. A bibliography on roses had been published in 1973 which focused on books and in 1984 there was a self-published title from the U.K. citing books and“significant” journal articles but which did not include the voluminous amount of articles in popular journals and newspapers. My goal was to update and expand upon what had been compiled by the earlier bibliographers. Two decades later, I have returned to …

Adopting Children From U. S. Public Foster Care: A Sociological Analysis With Practical Implications, Josephine A. Ruggiero Aug 2015

Adopting Children From U. S. Public Foster Care: A Sociological Analysis With Practical Implications, Josephine A. Ruggiero

Sociology Between the Gaps: Forgotten and Neglected Topics

Adoption has increased in importance as both an exit goal and exit outcome for 20-25% of children in public foster care. Although reunification with parents or another biological relative retains primacy as the first option for permanency planning, the percentage of children actually reunified with a biological family member has decreased by nine percent from 60% to 51%. The author uses data collected by the federal government and reported in AFCARS Reports collected over 16 fiscal years to analyze the principal demographic characteristics of children in U. Creating Digital Art History: Library, Student, And Faculty Collaboration, D. Russell Bailey May 2015

Creating Digital Art History: Library, Student, And Faculty Collaboration, D. Russell Bailey

Library Faculty and Staff papers

Over the last two decades, teaching, learning, and research in higher education have developed a growing digital presence. Digital development in the humanities has been slow relative to most other areas in academia, and with some exceptions, art and art history have enjoyed slow digital growth within the humanities. Within this environment, the article here presents one collaborative model for digital art history, rare in its exclusive focus on undergraduate “junior scholars”. Undergraduate senior-level art history and studio art students at Providence College collaborate annually with art history and studio art faculty to publish their senior theses in print format …
