LibGuides aren’t just for librarians anymore. With flexible access and permission features, LibGuides and LibGuides CMS each offer a flexible platform for hosting and supporting patron-created content. This poster highlights how, with a few simple configurations, librarians at a mid-sized university in the southeast opened up the LibGuides CMS platform to host student-developed projects and portfolios. Employing similar techniques, libraries can host a wide range of patron content, including blogs, group and event sites, and more. Learn how to extend editorial permissions to patrons while protecting your own guides and assets, as well as how to control access to patron-created …

Bridging The Gap: Providing A Marketing And Support Framework For Institutional Repository Services, Jeffrey M. Mortimore, Debra G. Skinner

Institutional Repositories require continuous promotion and support to attract and retain campus collections. However, balancing promotion with a clear representation of repository offerings, policies, and procedures is challenging, especially for institutions that rely on public services personnel for front-line promotion. This poster presents Georgia Southern University's recently-developed IR Services LibGuide as a model for providing such a framework (http://georgiasouthern.libguides.com/irservices/). This portal provides 1) a front-line promotional tool; 2) a client-management tool for support consultations; and 3) a storehouse for repository-related forms and licenses. It further integrates with the library's other scholarly communications-related guides, providing seamless representation of these …

Background: Evidence-based guidelines for sickle cell disease (SCD) health maintenance and management have been developed for primary health care providers, but not for individuals with SCD. To improve the quality of care delivered to individuals with SCD and their caregivers, the main purposes of this study were to: (1) understand the desire for patient-centered guidelines among the SCD community; and (2) adapt guideline material to be patient-centered using community-engagement strategies involving health care providers, community -based organizations, and individuals with the disease.
Methods: From May–December 2016, a volunteer sample of 107 individuals with SCD and their caregivers gave …

We've Got A Guide For That: Building A Comprehensive Marketing And Support Framework For Institutional Repository Services, Jeffrey M. Mortimore
Library Faculty Presentations
Institutional Repository services require continuous, multi-channel promotion and support to attract and retain conferences, journals, and other campus collections. However, given the relative complexity of the services offered, balancing promotional messaging with a clear representation of repository offerings, policies, and procedures can be a challenge. Providing a flexible but robust marketing and support framework is especially important for institutions that rely on non-repository public services personnel to provide front-line promotion of repository services to faculty and administrators.
During this session, we will look at Georgia Southern University's recently-developed Institutional Repository Services LibGuide as a model for providing such a framework …
