Reimagining Freshmen Library Orientation At The Forde Library, Usc, Anastasia Mulraine-Campbell, Stacyann Quintero
Reimagining Freshmen Library Orientation At The Forde Library, Usc, Anastasia Mulraine-Campbell, Stacyann Quintero
Journal of Adventist Libraries and Archives
Striving “Beyond Excellence” is the motto of the University of the Southern Caribbean, and the Forde Library strives to embody such by constantly reviewing and upgrading the resources and services offered to their community. One of the main drivers of such a review process in the past three years has been the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced many academic libraries to reimagine their service offerings and access points. The Forde Library was no stranger to this, as the pandemic saw a fundamental shift in the delivery mode of Library orientation using technology and conferencing software. This quantitative study focuses on the …

This study seeks to assess the user frequency and impact of ICT on the performance of the User Services Division, with specific insight on the Circulation, Reference and Instruction Units of the Forde Library. The impact of ICT was measured using cluster-based sampling given to 340 undergraduate students, with a return rate of 62% - 211 students. The analysis revealed a significant lack of awareness and usage of the ICT offerings. Exceptions to low usage and awareness were the OPAC and the Library’s Website. The main factors that impacted the low awareness and usage were limited marketing, no knowledge of …

The Multiple Simultaneous Stakeholder Phenomenon: Stakeholder Theory In The Church, Steve Jeantet
The Multiple Simultaneous Stakeholder Phenomenon: Stakeholder Theory In The Church, Steve Jeantet
Journal of Applied Christian Leadership
Stakeholder theory is useful in identifying individuals or groups that are invested in, benefit from, or are potentially harmed by an organization. This article identifies a weakness in the current literature. Unlike most for-profit organizations where the various groups of stakeholders are relatively discrete, churches frequently have individuals who are meaningful stakeholders in several arenas simultaneously. The same person can be a program participant (customer), volunteer (unpaid employee), elder or deacon (board member), and donor (investor). This phenomenon is labeled the multiple simultaneous stakeholder effect herein, and proposed implications for pastors and opportunities for future research are discussed.

Towards A Biblical Foundation For A Philosophy Of Library Sociality, Terry Dwain Robertson
Towards A Biblical Foundation For A Philosophy Of Library Sociality, Terry Dwain Robertson
Journal of Adventist Libraries and Archives
In this essay, I focus on the sociality of librarianship in the academic setting. How should we as library workers think about the communities we serve? What mindset should guide our interactions with the people who seek our services? How should library workers think about how we collaborate to serve our public? As a profession, librarianship has a solid public service orientation, evidenced by its best community outreach, advocacy, and hospitality practices. Can Biblical teachings emphasized within the Seventh-day Adventist faith community be foundational for this ethos? Does faith integration matter? Correlating insights from Tuomela on group agency, Lankes on …

School Libraries Should Be Equipped To Operate In The Virtual Space, Denise Hunter
Journal of Adventist Libraries and Archives
Since the Covid-19 Pandemic, online activities have increased exponentially. Public and school libraries have expanded their offerings and increased their online presence to ensure that patrons continue to access their services. Our school libraries in the Caribbean have not been given the attention they deserve and so are not equipped to function in the online world. Many kept their doors closed or the space reassigned for other activities. In instances Librarians have been assigned other tasks and information literacy skills placed on hold. In this time of online presence, our school libraries and librarians have a role to play in …
